Why don't you get two birds stoned at once and get remote entry installed? This thread made me realize that I have never even used my key on my door.

Take the old tumbler and the new one to the dealer. They should be able to set the new lock to the old key.

Tumblers are the little moving parts that determine a matching key. Its not just about getting a new cylinder keyed.

No one is going to replace individual tumblers. I figured you meant the lock cylinder when you called it a tumbler. I'm pretty sure you'll have to get a new lock cylinder and have the dealer key it for you.

Just get a cylinder from the dealer. Take it to Aboe Lockworks thats who we use they are cheaper than the dealership for recoding locks.

Ive got one locksmith who'll do it, but if he cant, ill just cave and go the dealer route (looks like itll be about $100 recoded)

Took the cylinder out this evening and took a boo; man, that honda service bulletin wasn't lying, the tumblers are so out of wack. Hopefully the guy I spoke to today can put some new ones in.
I'll give the one vanisle a call tommorow too

why not call honda and double check the warranty? you might get lucky and they will do it.

FWIW, vanisleflamesfan hit the money on the head.
Budget Locks (aka Calgary Lock and Safe) fixed the lock, and it only cost me $25 pretty much a fraction of the cost of a new lock and getting it recoded.

I've always thought that whether your car is out of warranty or not, if it's a service bulletin out of the factory, they have to do it without the consumer paying anything... it's not the consumer's fault the product is defective.

Don't know about that; on the bulletin itself it says it's covered under warrentee, but if your not it's up up the the dealship to decide of they want to comp it

That's pretty bizarre that the dealership didn't do it. They just bill Honda instead of you.
