Norm!

Are teenagers stupid?
So I go to see Terminator Salvation in the theatre today. An ok movie, not great but not bad. And I remember why I hate movies in the theatre.
This row of about three morons start talking throughout the movie, so I decide I have had enough. I get up and go and sit in front of these morons and I turn around and ask them very nicely to shut up. Of course these wastes of sperm are no older then 13 or 14 and one asks me what I'm going to do about it if they don't, and I very nicely tell them that I'll get the theatre manager to come and talk to them. Of course, one of them tries to pick a fight with me, and I tell him that I really want to beat him to death with the body of his friend to the left. After that they were pretty quiet and I returned to my seat.
After the movie they followed me and my friend back to the truck mouthing off until we turned around and started walking back towards them, and they took off.
So I came to the following conclusion
1) If your at a movie shut the f up.
2) If your going to threaten a person or try and pick a fight with a person don't flee like a coward when they come back at you, because at that point, I was really hoping I could beat them to death
3) Punks are chicken s
3) I paid my money to go to the movie just like you so shut the f up.
Hey I'm not a violent guy, but I think I should have a right to beat people to death if the talk during a movie or answer their cellphone or to do anything that disrupts my enjoyment.
SHUT THE F UP!!

The question was Are teenagers stupid? The answer, is yes.
You should consider everyone of them as such unless an individual proves otherwise.

...not to mention they have bad taste in jeans. I mean seriously, only teenagers would think that wearing skin tight girls jeans looks good on guys.

I rarely go to movies anymore because of how dumb the average person seems to be.
9 times out of 10, I have to deal with someone talking non-stop, kicking seats, answering their phone, or something else equally self-absorbed.

I hate kids like that. Have my whole life. In fact when I was a teen I still hated them. So generally yes teens are stupid. But lets not paint uber broad strokes.

For about half, yes. These days about half of the teenagers are really inconsiderate of others and act far to immature to be 'cool.'
I think kids these days are getting worst, and that's probably due to their parents not be stern enough to children on being respectful.

I have to defend some teenagers, seeing as I have one.
Can't imagine my kid or his friends doing that at the movies, or speaking to an adult like that. Granted I don't know what exactly goes on if I'm not around, but him and his friends are well behaved polite kids and I truly could not imagine behaviour like that out of him or his group of friends.

Lol this is funny. Something similar happened to me except that this 'kid' who sat behind me kept kicking the back of my seat for no reason. So I had enough and told him to please stop politely... he grinned back. Seconds later he started again, and I was sooooooo irritated that I took my LARGE icy coke and threw it at him. He then yelled, "WTF", and walked out of the theatre. Thankfully his parents weren't around, but man, my friends were laughing their asses off.

Rather than a confrontation i talk to the manager and have them kicked out. When i do that they usually give me a free pass to another movie. That said it doesn't happen that often when i do go to a movie.

As another point of view you should be very proud of most of the teenagers here. Coming from England, teenagers there have been out of control for the past twenty years or so - and it is just getting worse. They are rude and quite obnoxious there and even dangerous. I DO blame the parents of these children for their lack of respect and good manners and British parents are guilty of letting television and computer games raise their children. I have been so happy and pleasantly surprised to meet so many polite, respectful teenagers here in Calgary - the 'bad' ones are definitely in the minority.

Unfortunately I don't find teenagers any stupider than adults. I have just as many problems with stupid people that are 20+ and sometimes that makes it worse because they can't just blame it on hormones or being a teenager, they are bonafide adults that have the mental capacity of a 13 year old.

People in general are stupid, they just happen to be their dumbest from the ages of 13-19.

I remember reading somewhere that it's not that they're stupid or don't consider their actions.. they found that teenagers take longer to evaluate things than adults do (which makes sense given the lack of life experience), they simply evaluate things far differently than adults.
While adults might think in a theater about how disrupting someone wouldn't be nice, might disturb more people than the person they want to disturb, and how they want to be treated, a teenager would be more interested in how his peers view him. He can show his peers he's not afraid of challenging an adult's authority and get away with it, or whatever. The positive feedback from his peers is far more valuable than the risk or negative feedback from the adult.
Hopefully by the time they become adults they learn better, though I'm not so sure, while I don't see as much overt aggression like that from adults, passive aggression is in abundance.
I'm sure everyone can think of things that they did as a teen and look back and really question your own judgment.

I don't really think teenagers are any stupider/worse than other generations were, but yes, in general teenagers are not the smartest - they are still children after all, even though they'd never admit it.
Do people really have that many problems at movies? I've had few experiences that were bad enough to make me consider not going anymore or to characterize it as 'always' ... then again, I get to maybe 6 a year.

Those kids were stupid.
When I was a teen I tried to be inconspicuous as possible to make it easier for me to sneak into a second movie and/or an R rating movie. Oh, and I'd also be trying to smuggle in outside food. Kernels popcorn was one of my favourite options for that.
