Hey all! Not sure how many big DS gamers there are out there, but I figured it'd be alright to start pimping out this game early on. 'Professor Layton and the Curious Village' was released in February last year and instantly became one of my favorite DS games. For those unfamiliar, it's an adventure style game where you'll have to point and click around environments and characters, stopping along the way to solve increasingly difficult puzzles and riddles. The whole thing is wrapped up with fantastic art, fully animated and voiced cut scenes, and sensational music. Really, if you have a DS and haven't checked it out yet, do yourself a favor and do so. Right now!
Rejoice, Nintendo has finally announced that it's sequel, Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, will be released on August 24th! It features, of course, a brand new story line, over 150 puzzles, and three times as much animation and voice work as the first game. I am REALLY excited for this game to come out. Here's a trailer for it:
They'll also have downloadable puzzles available every week for 33 weeks after the game's release!
This is only the second game in a trilogy which has already been released in Japan, as well as a second prequel trilogy on the way. The developer, Level 5 (Dragon Quest VIII, Dark Cloud series) has already said they plan to bring the third game in the series over, as well as the entire prequel trilogy! It's not too late to get on board... go out and grab Curious Village, play it, love it, then throwdown a pre-order for Diabolical Box. August 24th can't come soon enough!
At first I was wondering what Jack Layton and a Diabolical Box had to do with technology.

I just finished "The Curious Village". Well, I cheated and looked up the answers to 134 and 135. After an hour of trying each I was like "this just isn't fun anymore". But the rest of the game was awesome. I can't wait until August.
Heh. There was one that had a square within a circle within a square within a circle within a square. My brother and I solved it exactly the same way with algebra and Pythagorus ... took us about 5 minutes, pencil paper and an eraser. Then when the answer pops up it says "if you turn the DS sideways you can see the answer visually". I liked my answer better... I had to work for it.
Apparently Professor Layton III is already out in Japan and they are working on a prequel where we find out how Luke became the professors apprentice.
If people are wondering for an idea of what the game is like, one of the early puzzles in the game is:
"On a 12 hour digital clock, how many times during the day will you have 3 consecutive numbers the same (ie 2:22)."
