Default Car Warranty Scam

This was on the News last night.....and I just got off the phone with the guy. He says the warranty was up on my vehicle so i played along for a bit. He'll asks what kind of car you have(which he should know) and how many km's are on it. Its only $2100 for another 100,000 kms warranty. Then he presses you for Credit Card info. In the end I told him his little scam was on the news last night and he abruptly hung up.

The number shows up as Dist. Columbia (202)-495-7127 if anyone wants to play along.

Just tell them that you're interested, and need to go grab your credit card.

Then put the handset down and go do other things.

Hah I got a call from this guy the other day. I just bought my car (which is 14 years old) from a buddy and some random calls to try and get me a warrenty extension. I told him my vehicle was so far past it's warranty there was nothing to renew. He stammered for a minute, and apologized and hung up.

Weird scam.

Oh man, I would LOVE to get a call from these clowns. I would be more than happy to play along. I really, really, enjoy screwing with people like that.

Call them back saying your buddy just signed up for their warranty and you were wondering if its available for your car. Tell 'em its an 87 K-car with 433,000 Km's on it.

Ahaha next person who gets it should be all "Oh no, that's my fathers car, hold on, I'll go get him."

And then turn on the old Arnold Schwartzeneggar sound-bite machine.

"WHO ARE YOU?"

"STOP YOUR WHINING!!!"

I've gotten it a couple times as well... from a Toronto number. Oddly enough, it is 416-001-364. The number alone gave away that it was a scam.

I got the same call yesterday. I played along with the guy until he asked for my CC number. I said hold on a sec while i go get it. I put the reciever down and proceeded to make my lunch. After i ate my sandwhich i picked up the phone and said could you hold on for a few more minutes as i think i left my CC in my vehicle. Another few minutes pass while i wash my lunch dishes and i pick up the phone again. I ahhhhhhh changed my mind and decided not to go through with this. Have a nice day! - click

If anyone gets these they should post the numbers, then we shoudl call them asking for warranty on our car. Give them a bogus cc number and home address and name.

Something like

Ezekial Khadr
1563 Git Bay Street
Toronto On

Credit Card Number: 6726 2246 5233 6543 = OSAM ABIN LADE N543

These pricks deserve to burn in hell. Also work in a couple of NSA keywords to get the feds on them in the US. Here is a list http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread17967/pg1

Wow, I can't believe it's actually a scam. My car actually has an extended warranty up til 120,000 kms through the dealership. I'm at 117,000, and got the call from these guys, figured they knew about my past warranty, therefore were just calling because of that. I'd be pissed if I actually paid the $2,000+ for the extra kms, to find I just got scammed.

I have been getting automated calls weekly starting from about a month ago.

Oddly enough, they started to first come in when I put name numbers on the do not call list.

I had Ali on the phone about a half hour ago wanting to know if I paid hydro bills.

I said no.

He asked did I live in the house?

Yep.

And you don't pay bills?

Nope?

Was I the owner of the house?

Yep.

And you don't pay hydro bills?

Nope.

Why not?

Don't want to.

Long pause ........ click.

Seems expensive...

I can get the exact same thing to you for half the price. Just PM me your car plus personal details and credit card number, consider it done.

Payment will come up as either "HOOT's Crazy Car Warranty".

I have received about 30 calls over the last few months. I am getting pissed at these bull crap calls.

How many people get the phone call from the cruise ship company? They start the call with the sound of the horn from the ship. So annoying.
