Default Moving a Couch

I am looking to get a new couch and will inevitably run into the struggle of getting the couch through some tight dimensions so I am looking for tips on getting this thing in my place.

Couch dimensions are 88" L, 36 " D and 31" H. It is a relatively stiff leather couch.

Hallway dimensions are 85" height and 55" width. As for the door the height is 80" and the width is 33".

Okay CP braintrust....can it be done?

Thanks for your help.

Chainsaw...meet couch.

Seriously though, tilting it on a 45 degree angle usually helps going through the door. If it has a bed in it, I wish you luck.

Turn it on its side? 31 < 33

Going to have to tilt it a bit after the door depending on the distance before/after the door

When moving it think outside the box. Most of the couches I've moved go through the dorrs easier if you carry it with the arms and back about the same distance from the ground. So from the normal position, rotate it forward about 150 degrees. Then when it comes time to adjust to make it through, you should see what way to get through.

Have you ever read Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency?

You should, before you do anything with that couch.

We bought a giant leather couch and had the store deliver it to our apartment a few years ago. They needed to remove doors and light fixtures and sweat a great deal getting it in. I noticed they used blankets and plastic sheets to protect the couch and allow them to basically slide it at times to get it where it needed to go. We followed the same procedures to get it out again and only caused minor scrapes and scuffs to the couch.

Is this thread a joke? You may or may not be replacing a couch and you want CP to figure out some IQ testing type question to determine if it’s possible. You got it in, you can get it out!

Last night I made a sandwich, and when I went to add some mustard, the bottle was almost finished! I had to shake it like a madman to get out a few squirts. CP, should I buy a new mustard bottle, or do you think I can get a few more squirts out of it?

Hey genius, try reading a bit more carefully before you start ragging on people. He wants to know if the new couch he might buy will fit in. It hasn't already been in...

It should fit, you might want to unhinge the door to make it easier. Try it, if it gets stuck post pics.

mykalberta - myxkinc in no way guarantees the above or any forward looking statments, thoughts, suggestions or ideas.

is it in an apartment building? What floor are you on? Is it possible to lift in to patio? and then through sliding glass doors?

if its in the hallway just line it up so the back is facing down and tilt, its should fit that way

Yeah, just rent a Zoom-Boom and see what that'll do for you.

Hey, while you're at it, why dont you just phone up the Enterprise and see if they can beam it in for you?
