Pool Advice: Josh Harding or Ty Conklin - Calgarypuck Forums - The Unofficial Calgary Flames Fan Community

Hi all,

I'm in a relatively tight pool and am a bit thin on goaltending this year, and my #4 guy is currently Josh Harding. With the recent Gaborik news, I'm wondering if I would be better off with Ty Conklin instead. It looks like Conklin will get about 1/3 of Detroit's starts, and they're such a strong team on most nights that I could play in goal for them. On the other hand, I think Harding is a far more skilled goaltender, and while Minnesota isn't great, that trap of theirs is annoyingly effective.

Point structure in the pool is 3pt/win, 0pt/loss, 3pt/shutout, .25/save, -2/GA

Who would you pick in this circumstance?

I would go with Harding - I think Minny is going to want to see if he can be a starter since Backstrom is scheduled to hit free agency this summer.

Harding is also in the last year of his contract. I have him in a keeper league, just waiting for him to become the starter.

^Yeah but he's a RFA, Backstrom would be a UFA, so I'm sure Minny would rather go with Harding next year ifh e's ready.

Neither, but if I absolutely had to, I'd probably side with Harding.

Based on the points structure, what you need is starts, and overall I think Harding is going to get more of them.
