Default Cards + billiards

So i consider myself an avid billiards player, its something i enjoy and several times i have seen people playing some kind of card game while playing billiards, and i've tried to figure it out but never could and never really wanted to walk up to a group of people playing and ask how it works so i was wondering if someone could explain maybe how it works, it seems interesting

Theres one where every card is assigned a ball. and you draw a card and have to sink that ball....or something along those lines

yeah, poker pool. You get 5 cards like a regular hand and try to sink the balls that correspond to the cards you have (Jack is 11, queen 12, king 13, 14 and 15 are wild card balls). Of course, it's great to have 3 of a kind in this game. when a ball is sunk, you put that card down on the side of the table. You have to let everyone know when you're down to last card. If you don't and someone calls you on it, you have to pick another card. If you scratch, you pick up another card as well.

Another game I liked to play on a snooker table was golf.
Each player had a cue ball and an object ball. Your cue ball colour would match up with your object ball colour. IIRC that would make your cue ball, say the three and your object ball the 11. The object was to play each pocket in order and start counting strokes after the first player sunk his ball. Penalty strokes for missing your object ball or sinking in wrong pocket or scratching or knocking over a skittle [usually placed on the pink, blue and brown spots] or not touching a rail, were three strokes which added up and could cost a lot of money for the unwary.

Nasty and expensive and addictive little game with lots of purposeful hooking and testing each players skill with plays off the rail when snookered.
