So I just picked up a stray dog.....
Driving down 26th ave and there's a Jack Russel wandering down the street, wearing a collar, no one in sight. I stop, pick him up, and went door to door trying to figure out who he belongs to, and nobody knows or recognizes him.
So I brought the little guy home (he's fighting with MY Jack Russel as I type this), but what do I do? Call the pound? Will they pick him up?
Anyone want to buy a dog for cheap?

No tags, and no tattoos that I can see. How did she find the owner?

If you take him to your vet, they should be able to check if the dog is chipped--you might find an owner that way. Long shot, but worth a try.
If it's a real stray, I'd get it some shots and deworming tablets stat, esp. if it's interacting with your dog.
Does it look well fed and in good health?

Its like flying stand by - all you pay is the taxes and fees - they will take you anywhere WestJet Flies. (Go to Maui!) Basically if before they shut the doors if they have two extra seats you are on the plane. At least that is my experience when i have had buddy passes, its been a few years since i last flew with one, so things could of changed...also if you need a place to stay in Maui..I got a place on the beach...

It looks clean and well fed. I know that my Jack is a real escape artist, so chances are this guy pulled a great escape on its owners.
Yeah, a vet would be a good place to start, they may even know the dog.

You can take it to any 24-hour vet, fill out a quick form, and the vet will take care of getting it to the pound/SPCA.

Yeah, you shoulda seen the mixed breed mutt that I found this morning when I woke up. Fed her, gave her cab money, and told her to beat it before I called the pound.
In other news, all you have to do is call 311 and they send someone over to get the dog. Which is a shame, because I kinda wanted to keep it.

Thankfully they sent someone to take it away from you.

Actually Buddy Passes are 60 dollars each way plus the taxes/fees/surcharge. You call to list yourself on the flight, show up at the airport and if there is space you get on, if not you get bumped to the next flight. Call the Standby Line 1877 435 9952, have the flights you want in mind already and the agent will be able to tell you how many other people are waiting standby on the filght, and how the loads are looking
