Default CPHL Over/Under Nov.10

Well lets have a look at the leagues over and under achievers throught the first month of the year shall we. We'll start with the good

Over.

Quebec Nordique

Yes the Nordique somehow are hovering near the top of the entire CPHL only 2 points back of top spot. Olaf Kolzig continues to be a SIM god as he's posted 11 wins and a 2.45 GAA so far. Slava Kozlov has to be the leagues MVP thus far collecting 15 goals and 28 points so far this season putting him 12 ahead of his closest team mate.

Ottawa Senators

No one will deny that the Senators boast some terrific young players, but did they expect this team to be this good this fast? The quartet of Eric Staal, Jordan Staal, Anze Kopitar, and Justin Williams has indeed been able to carry the load, and the NHL Pens wish M-A Fleury was playing this well. Dan Hamhuis continues to show that he is the best CPHL player ever who lives on a yacht.

Boston Bruins

Well Bruins GM KevanGuy knows a thing or two about Sim chemistry as his team is off to a hot start. The duo of Glen Metropolit and Curtis Brown rank among the leagues leaders in scoring and plus/minus. Factor in that the Bruins have had injury problems on defence that other teams haven't endured yet and their strong start is even more impressive. Rob Scuderi is unsung hero of the year to date.

Calgary Flames

If only the NHL Flames and NHL Miikka Kiprusoff would get off to a start like this. Kiprusoff has been nothing short of amazing early in the CPHL season. Lead by the veteran quartet of Glen Murray, Bill Guerin, Adam Foote, & Alexei Kovalev the Flames find themselves in the top end of the Howe Conference playoff picture.

And now the Under..

Pittsburgh Penguins

Although improved a bit as of late the Pens find themselves 15th in the Gretzky Conference after last years cup finals appearance. The Luongo experiment was a disaster and prompted a major shakeup. Sooner or later you have to think the Pens get it going.

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks looked to be hugely improved in the CPHL offseason after a series of sharp moves by new GM RT14. But on ice things just haven't really caught on as the Sharks have a 5-10-3 record to start the season. Can RT overcome the retirement of Petr Bondra and get his troops on a run here?

Detroit Red Wings

Theres probably a few of us who wish the NHL Red Wings would have a start to the season like these Red Wings have. Marty Turco has been pretty average despite his big money contract and Brent Johnson has been terrible. Mark Recchi, and Tom Poti are both having exceptionally bad starts as well. Can the Wings get things turned around?

Winnipeg Jets

Okay, most probably expected the Jets to be where they are....but did they expect them to be this bad? 1 win and an overtime loss is all the Jets have to show for their first 18 games of the season. Currently on an 11 game losing streak the team is making the Bombers really popular in the peg these days. Some think that Bombers players probably could get similar results and save the team about 50 million in payroll.

great job chad, had a laugh at the M-A Fleury comment. Plus I don't think it's said enough at how well the Bruins have turned that team around. It's amazing how bad that team has been hit by free agency, and to see them flexing their muscles again is great.

Thanks Syl, that was a great read! Yes, the Sharks are very disappointed with the record they've put together so far and will be working hard to right this ship. I knew Bondra's loss would hurt, but this is just getting ridiculous!

Thanks Doug. After the disaster last yer I figured I would try out another method of team building. Its been successful so far but I could easily be out of a playoff spot if I lose a bit of chemistry. Oh, and thanks Syl for doing up the list.
