Video panning into the city

I'm doing a work presentation and I wanted to have a video of something panning into the city of Calgary. Kind of like when you scroll into Google maps in satellite view - although I recorded a video screen shot of doing that and it looks - not great. Or not as smooth as I'd like...

Any suggestions?

The google earth pro version allows allows you to do this. That's how CNN do it.

$400 bucks.

You could probably fudge it be using a screen recording app like Camtasia. Just make sure your system has some serious horsepower to avoid the dropped frame looking video.

You may want to try MS Virtual Earth. I've found it smoother than google earth.
