Roid issue or not, McGuire's numbers just aren't good enough anyway IMO.

This is true. And obviously the home run record doesn't hold water on its own since Roger Maris never made it.

There were some pretty suspect players receiving votes. Robb Nen? Chuck Knoblauch?

24% for Tim Raines is criminal. I know first time ballottees have to pay their dues, but my guess is he' ll never make it. a very under-rated ballplayer, who didn't do the kinds of things that make voters take notice, especially seeing as the monster offensive numbers starting happening just after his prime

Well with a generation of roid pumped up players theres going to be a lull for Baseball's Hall of Fame that may let some past overlookee's get in. I still think Bert Bylevin belongs in the Hall. He's been close, maybe in this dead era of HOF guys, he'll rise above the cut.

Until Shoeless Joe Jackson gets an apology from Major League baseball and an invite into the hall, there should be no hall of fame.

How do ya figure?

He is 9th overall in career slg% and 8th in career homeruns with 583. Everyone with over 500 has been inducted into the HOF (or is not eligable because they are still playing) besides Palmeiro and that is obvious as to why.

He also has the lowest AB per HR in MLB history, making him the best HR hitter likely ever to play the game.

He'd be on the first ballot with no questions asked if it wasn't for roids.
