Default Minor rule change

Folks here is a clarification and minor change to our free agency rules for in-season signings...this is also on the rules page now. Thank you to Spike who made the original suggestion on this.
Once the season begins any UFA listed on the site can be signed by teams. Teams may also request players added to the player list so they can be signed. These requests should be emailed to cphlufa@yahoo.com.
In both situations the players are signed outside of the bid system according to the following options:
1 year: 1.0/season
2 year: 875K/season
3 year: 750K/season

In all cases the AHL contract is set at 10%

In some special circumstances the league will apply the bid system for a free agent during the season. This will be used for rare situations where a high profile player worth far above the amounts above becomes unexpectedly available (e.g. the player un-retires (see Jeremy Roenick))

I assume the bid system will also be used if a non playoff team decides to buy out a player who has an overpriced contract for next year that they want to get off the books without hitting them for next years cap.

Example say the Jets buy out Cajanek after the trade deadline because they want him off the books next year and were unable to move him at the deadline. In order to make sure it doesn't cost them next years cap they have to buy him out before their season ends so Mike decides to do this. If another team wants him he'd be put up for bid after the deadline?

My only question is why we are not signing these scrap heap guys at league minimum?

At this point they have been passed over by everyone in the league.

Cost of doing buisness. 750K is still a fraction of the league average.

Yup, like the old days players like these will be posted on the main board and the GMs will have 48 hours or so to place a bid.
