On a postive note: the Bruins lost!!! I smell something funny coming from beantown! :doo:

Hawks put out another decent perfomance, losing 1-3 with 24-28 shots to powerhouse Islanders. Jim Vandermeer shocked his GM by posting +1. Rookie Jiri Hudler scored his first of the season from rookie's Alexander Ovechkin's assist. Ovechkin got his first point in CPHL. Brent Johnson was decent with 25 saves on 28 shots. Hawks GM was generally satisfied with his team's perfomance, saying that team is much better than they were a week ago and that they will surely have a fighting chance against less powerful teams, specially with Bulis, McDonald and Jillson back in the line-up.

I'm not sure for how long server will be down... but this injury thing has a flip side... While I scratched Jillson coz he was indeed injuried but healthy in editor, I couldn't dress McDonald, who was indeed healthy, but still injured in editor... I think it could be good idea to freeze injuries as they are now and do NOT scratch newly injured players since we can't bring back those, who are coming back from injuries... but regardless I think server will get back soon

Senators 3 Canadians 2

The Game was the Senator jump out to an Early 2 nothing led on goals by Varada and Jovonovksi. The 2 goals came 50 seconds apart.

Then a potentail disaster struck. Marty Turco went down hard on blatent trip by Brenden Shannahan. All that that was of course missed by the ref. It was determined that Turco should sit on the bench in order to not make things worse.

So in came Pasi Nurminen. The team responded by shutting down the Canadians for the rest of the period. The team buckled down and played a flawless 2nd period not allowing a single shot by the Canadians. the 3rd was another story.

Jason Smith scored what would be the Game winning goal on the PP while Modry sat in the box serving a double minor roughing.

It was after this that the Candians got things rolling again. Goals by Primeau and a Shanahan (on the PP) brought the Canadians to within a goal having fired 14 shots at the Senators Net. The Sens coach called a time out and calmed the guys down. after that the Senators shut the Candians the rest of the way for the win.

Turco was examined after the game as was deemed ok and ready to go if needed.

This the 2nd game that has been decided by 1 goal between the 2 clubs. so far the Senators hold the advantage in both games.

Next up a game VS the tough Sharks of San Jose.

The Smelly Rat
November 18, 2004

Well the Panthers lost once again but it was by no means a crushing defeat. Panthers GM Dave Penney said he was happy about coming back from being down 4 goals to make it a 4-3 game.

"We showed a lot of heart tonight by coming all the way back" said Penney.

The Panthers might have lost the game but certain individuals continue their SUPER hot play for the club. Olie Jokenin continues his scoring streak by notching another goal today. He has now gone 9 games now in a row with at least scoring a point and has a total of 20 points in 13 games this year. He is now 3rd overall in the league in points, sitting only 2 behind the amazing Ilya Kovalchuk.

Possibly the best defenceman in the league, Radik Martinek is now tied for 2nd in the league for +/-. His solid defensive play has been the subjust of many trade rumor as of late but Panthers GM Dave Penney has yet to bite the bullet and trade him.

Nathan Dempsey is the 9th highest defensive scorer int he CPHL. Pairing him with martinek all year, this duo has really demonstrated a great work ethic and has really shocked a lot of people around the league.

Brad Boyes and Jonothan Cheechoo are also in the running for the top rookie. Each player is getting quite a bit of icetime and will have plenty of opportunity to be the top candidate for the Calder...

Flames 3 Sharks 2

Flames make it two in a row by taking one from the San Jose Sharks.

Arturs Irbe making his first start this year, stopped 22 out of 24 shorts in giving the Flames the victory. Although not spectacular, Irbe was solid between the pipes giving Biron a much needed rest.

Robert Lang, earning first star, was much improved with a two point night. Rounding out the three stars were Jarome Iginla and Mike Rathje.

Sturm was used sparingly as an injury crept up on him as well as eric weinrich was also used slightly to have him heal a bit.

Previous to the meeting the Flames were involved in a trade with the Detroit Red Wings. Subject to league approval of course the Flames have acquired Offensive Defenceman Oleg Tverdovsky from the Wings for Jason Woolley and ECHL up and comer Sean Colling.

Tverdovsky will help increase the flow of the puck from the defence to the forwards and will be used on the Power play from time to time. Oleg will be teamed up with Ken Klee.

Assists - Brad Richards - 2
Points - Richards & Stillman - 2

Blues lose in OT

After outplaying the Wild most of the game and comletely controlling the play in both the 1st and 3rd periods the blues lost 3-2 in overtime to the Minesota Wild. Why? Going 0 for 11 on the powerplay - it seems like the Blues stole a few pages off of the Hawks PP.

As for the newcomers, Mark Parrish was injured half was through the game by a hit from behind by Andrew Brenette, and later was furious that no suspension was handed out.

"Thats typical of Andrew - hitting players from the rear. The whole team likes to enter the play from the rear, they act as a whole bunch of guys who play "swords" in the dressing room." Parish was heard yelling, and is listed as day-to-day with a concussion.

The game got more interesting from there on, as 5 minutes later Sami Kapanen, on identical play hit Serge Aubin from behind. Serge, took things into his own and head-butted the wildman in response. The Wild continued to play dirty in the 3rd as Trembley and Lombardi received charging and boarding penatlies respectively.

Both Johan Hecht and Greg Devries had strong performances in their Blues dayview, recording 23 and 28 minutues and finishing the game at even.

The battle will resume in a week and a half in the Wild house as Blues are expected to dress Adam Mair to show them who's their daddy and what he does.

Flyers 2 Sabres 2

The Sabres continue to pick up points, now 4 games in a row, but with mostly ties they aren't making up much ground. Still it seems the teams early woes are behind them and they are in the mix most nights. They probably deserved a better fate having outshot the Flyers badly. Tonight the Sabres first line let them down, but goals from the second line of Rucchin-Fedotenko-Mellanby (from newcomer Scott Mellanby) and the third line of Battaglia-Vasicek-Marshall kept them in the game. Newcomer Kim Johnsson was quiet.

The Sabres play Edmonton tomorrow, their first game against a Western Conference Team.

No major trades on the horizon, although word has the Sabres dangling the likes of Dimitrakos, Prusek, Hahl, Cross, May and draft picks to enhance their 3rd/4th lines and 3rd D pair.

Stars lose in penalty filled game

Dallas,TX- The Dallas Stars and the Phoenix Coyotes seem to have a strong dislike with one another. The game ended with 96 penalty minutes and two ejections. Miroslav Satan was ejected for a high stick on Krys Kolanos and Aaron Asham was ejected for an elbow against Jarrett Stoll. The Stars ended up with 7 PP and scored on one of them. While the Coyotes had 10 opportunities, but the strong PK of the Stars held them to just a goal. The game ended in a 7-5 victory for the Coyotes. The score was closer then the game really was. The Coyotes dominated the Stars and it showed by the number of shots. They Coyotes managed 42 shots on the helpless tandem of Osgood and Miller. The Stars only mustered 23 shots in the game.

The first period the Coyotes were able to gain a 2 goal lead with goals by Radim Vrbata and Erik Cole. In the second period the Stars countered quickly and were able to tie the game up. Rookie d-man Christian Backman scored his first goal of the campaign. Kip Miller also scored 10 minutes in the 2nd to tie the game at two. However the Coyotes quickly got the lead back. 50 secs after the Miller goal Daniel Briere gave Phoenix the lead and a few minutes later he scored again to give the Coyotes a 2 goal cushion once again. Eric Belanger and Jonas Andersson traded goals to finish up the scoring in the 2nd period. The Coyotes had chased Osgood out of the net and had a 5-3 lead going into the third period. The Coyotes went 3 goals up with an Aucoin bullet that it the back of the net qucikly fooling Ryan Miller. Then on the PP Jonas Andersson notched his second goal of the game and third on the season. A few moments later the Stars scored another goal to put the Coyotes up by a single goal. This time newly acquired D-man Aaron Miller got on the scoreboard. However it was to late for the Stars as on the PP the 'yotes put the game away Tjarnqvist scored to give the Coyotes a 2 goal lead once again.

Chris Osgood struggled tonight in making only 19 saves on the 24 shots he faced before be pulled in favor of Ryan Miller. Osgood picked up his 9th loss of the season. Despite his stats GM Roy was not critical of the veteran goaltender. "We have left him out to dry many times this season. And tonight was a perfect example of that. Both goalies were bombarded with shots. We need to tighten up defensively if we are going to have any chance of winning these games."

INJURY NEWS- Both Krys Kolanos and Jarrett Stoll left the game in the 2nd period due to injuries. Both are day to day and hopefully they will be back sooner then later. GM Roy was very upset with these results. "They hit us with two dirty plays and now we have two important guys sitting out because of it. I hope the league looks at these plays and will do something about it."

The Stars next game will be tomorrow night against the New York Rangers. The Rangers currently sit with a record of 5-6-2-1. Both teams will be depleted by injuries as Bryan Allen and Mats Sundin will be sitting out for the Rangers while Kolanos and Stoll will be out for the Stars.

JohnnyFlame and the boys were talking the day before the Penquins game and expressing some dissatisfaction with the league commisioners and the union.

Fart it!, said JohnnyFlame, Let's just openly defy them both. So the Capitals sent half the CPHL squad down to play in Portland without any of them clearing waivers. Then iced a lineup which did NOT include the prerequisite number of players for the CPHL game.

League officials were up in arms before the game. Hey these guys haven't been called up and you have an illegal roster. JohnnyFlame looked down on the guy and said "Get on with the game buddy and if you don't like my lineup then you can quit or would you rather I kicked your arse right here in the hallway".

The Comissioners office after the game said that GM's are responsible for their lineups and can do whatever they feel like in an open capitulation to JohnnyFlame and the Capitals.

"We feel justified that we have given the League and the Union both a shot across the bow and gotten away with it".

To make matters even more hilarious the Capitals won both games. Giroux banged in his first as a CPHLer. PItkanen and Yonkman were excellent on the blueline as was Gustafson who flew over from Europe for the game. Down in the AHL the Pirates who have been on the wrong end of many a score were aided by goals and assists by Brown, Maltby, Naslund etc.

Two wins and getting away with open defiance of two leagues and the Union. Quite the day for JohnnyFlame and the Capitals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
