FLAMES 8 HAWKS 2
Well thats more like it!
Flames taking advantage of an opporunity make short order fo the Chicago Blackhawks by a score of 8-2.
Good ole Joe Who was the Master of Disguise last night in taking advantage of his usually limited ice time and popping three points with a goal and two assists earing him the number 1 star status. Jason Wooley and Mr. Spacek notch 4 points and three points respectively.
The game did not come without cost though as Flames lose Eric Weinrich and Marco Sturm to injury. No news out yet as to how long both players will be out but losing Marco is a big blow to our offensive corp.
Martin Biron had a better outting improving his record to 4-6-2.
Hopefully this is a start of better things to come. Coach Sutter has been playing with the lines so we will see what happens in the next game.

Brent Johnson made a sensational debut for Hawks as he was pulled in his second straight game. Andrew Raycroft entered the game to post abysmal 5 saves on 8 shots. Awful goaltending combined with pathetic game by top line (-2) led into the biggest defeat this season. The only bright spot was 3rd line of Yachmenev, Hudler and Hossa who combined for one goal and didn't let anything in. Despite the loss, Hawks are still keep 24th position, where they seem to be for a rather long time.

Scoring Winger
|
Hot or not. Cutemeter. Rate my body.
These are just some of the places on the internet that a google search will let you battle it out to see who is hotter. As far as the CPHL goes there was only one place to find out. The leagues two hottest teams collided Wednesday night and it was the Avs that prevailed to win their 5th straight and make it 8 games without losing, stretching all the way back to their horrific 6-2 schooling by the gutter-dwelling Hawks of Chicago.
The win leaves Colorado sitting proudly on top of the Howe conference and in the unlikely position of 4th overall in the CPHL. It should be said that Sharks are just a point behind with an extra game to play. Balanced scoring and solid goaltending have got the Avs where they are tonight was no different. The Avs also retunred to their ways of the start of their streak with a huge first period, scoring all their goals in that first stanza and only allowing one in the middle of their 4 goal explosion.
Surprisingly for a team with so few real stars and flying so high Joe Thornton has had a quiet year so far to say the least. He was first to score tonight however as just two and a half minutes in he tallied his 3rd of the year when his linemates Mogilny and Nylander combined to set him up. Another 4 minutes later it was 2-0 Avs. Ex-Hawk Quint, scoring his 3rd of the season also, doubled the lead on the Power Play with Nylander again assisting and Thornton chipping in again too.
Federov scored an unassisted PP goal for the Preds less than a minute, his goal ending a long unbeaten streak for the leagues best penalty killers. The Avs then restored their 2 goal advantage with the games 3rd straight PP goal. Joe Thornton again did the damage when Brendl and Trnka combined to set him up. By the end of the 4th the Avs had all the offence they would need Beaudoin bagging his 4th of the campaign from Mogilny and Sedin. Federov scored again in the 2nd but the comeback never materialised as Turek finished with 20 saves, just 1 less Sanford who faced 3 extra shots.
Notes
Avs Power play was 2 for 8, Preds 1 for 7.
Colorado slipped back to 2nd in Penalty Killing but remains 4th with the extra man.
Hershey Bears got whipped again after winning last outing.
Tough game tomorrow when Avs play 3rd in conference Jackets.

Playing 3 games in 3 nights was exactly what the tired Predator's needed to break their long winning streak. Fedorov with 2 goals was teh lone bright spot.
