And it's not enough for some people... Apple marketing has really hoodwinked some fans if they though Apple was anything other than a corporation. Did they really think it was the member of the Jedi Council or something?

Some of these posts at the official Apple forum are hilarious:

My favorite:

Now I feel ashamed when people see my iphone

I have already gotten 3 comments yesterday by people reminding that the iphone dropped $200 after spotting me using it. They all had a little smirk on ther face. Honestly I don't feel comfortable using it now. This was my first and last Apple purchase. I wish we get $200 instead of the $100.

EDIT - This is a gem too:

I feel so much more comfortable using the iPhone in public now

I no longer feel embarrassed and worry that people think I'm a show-off using a $600 iPhone that is recognizable from 15 feet away.

Now when people ask I just tell them it's only $399 now and they can go get their own.

Now I no longer feel the need to be discrete and that is a good thing!

I think it's genious on Apple's part.

$100 will buy you half an Apple mouse, so giving $100 that will come back to you and more is an incredible "apology".

They should've just said, "Sorry, tech prices go down, you're SOL". Giving $100 credit feels more like an additional cash grab than a refund.

No kidding. Generally, the only thing better than an Apple product is the marketing attached to said apple product.

Apple's most expensive mouse is $69.00. There are also a lot third-party products available in the store; Wacom Tablets, Printers, etc.

I think it's great. You don't see Microsoft, Sony or any other company offering any credit after price drops like that. Good on Apple, I say.

You also don't see those other companies cutting the price of one of their popular products by $200 after just two months on the market either.

Did the "Mighty Mouse" come with your Mac? Or did you buy it seperately? The one that comes with the computers is typically garbage.

As for this $100 rebate - wha?!?! Let people complain. They bought the product at $X so they obviously felt it was worth $X to them. I was one of the first to get a PS3 and now the price has dropped. I'm not petitioning Sony to send me a rebate. My brother has a DVD player that cost $850 because he bought it almost 10 years ago. He has not written to Panasonic asking for a $700 rebate.

Keep the money Steve. Use the money to hire someone to work things out with Rogers to get the iPhone here.
