Sorry can't help you with this battery. But I find that people who plug in their phone every night to charge tend to shorten the battery life a lot faster. Overcharging it is hard on the battery. I try to charge mine every four or five days. Plus I turn it off at night. I say this because I have a Razr and the battery has given me a problem with it's life.

Poor battery life seems to be a problem with the Razr. I have the same issue and have talked to several others who experience the same problem. Is it just the Razr or is this a bigger Motorola problem in general?
I wonder how much a replacement battery might cost me. I still have nearly a year left on my contract, so the phone company isn't likely to give me a hardware credit to upgrade or replace the battery.

I do have an extra battery (purchased off eBay) but I've never had to use it.
Darn you fellers! Now you've probably jinxed things!

That's what i'm looking to do.
re: bad batteries, it's razr thing...what model do you have? mine is the first gen with none of the toys, i'm wondering if that's why the battery sucks, my v360 lasts about 3-4 days and my old v300 about 2-3.

I charge my phone every night and I have had a lot of phones and not problems with battery life, all batteries today are designed not to lose juice becuase you charge them so much. My treo has actually been getting better for battery life as it gets older and I do charge it once a night so I have a full battery every day.

I worked in the cell phone industry for 3 years and its not the "RAZR" its every phone, from every manufacture...its luck of the draw if you will have problems with any phone.
The RAZR was actaully one of the better phones out there for not having issues however that doesn't mean a lot considering about 1/3 (if not more) of all phones sold usually come back with some type of problem.
This is why I would never sign a contract and if I did I would buy some type of protection for it until my contract is up and/or I am available for a hardware upgrade.
I will take a look around my house when I am cleaning it tonight/tommorrow, I may have a spare one kicking around from my RAZR I had.

FYI
The voltage is likely within spec for input for the RAZR, so it's not a problem.
Second.. Burninator.. These batteries are likely Lithium-Ion and each deep discharge of a Li-Ion battery reduces it's overall life cycle. Rechargable batteries these days are designed so that they do not over-charge. Once the voltage in the battery reaches a certain level, power for the phone just comes from the charging source and the battery is skipped.

sorry, my post wasn't suggesting that it's a RAZR problem, he asked if it's motorola in general, my distinction was based on the fact that my other motorola's have been fine.

Oh it wasn't directed at you, I was just saying it wasnt just the Razr or Motorola. It was more for everyone who thinks their phone will actually last the full 3 year contract.
Its just phones in general now, well actually its electronics in general, they are all crap! Cell phones just seem to be the worst because we carry them around every where, they get dropped, they get abused in our pockets or purses(for the ladies) and most people use them quite frequently.
Also for the voltage difference it shouldn't be a problem, however I also wouldn't recommend it. I have seen phones get fried that way, even by people using the wrong charger. The phone "should" know the difference and either not except the charge or only allow a certain amount of voltage, but it doens't always work that way.
Is it GSM(Rogers/Fido) or CDMA(Bell/Telus)?

Huh. Must just have been a coincidence that my friends who have had battery problems always plug theirs in at night and I don't do that, and have never had anything but a great battery life.
I must have been applying my knowledge of batteries from my part job in the hardware section of Sears. The manuals for the cordless drills recommenced that you run the batteries dead and never recharge them when they are hot. Which most people don't do, which is too bad, because they were not happy to find out the batteries cost almost as much as a brand new drill.

Coropratejay, I found a battery.
Motorola BR50
3.7V Lithium Ion Battery
If you want it, just PM me an address to send it to. I live in Victoria so it would be hard to meet up. Its so small I can probably get away with the 52 cent stamp (which I just happen to look on my work desk and there one is ).
Let me know, its just lying around my house so its no good to me. I don't even have my RAZR anymore.

I would take a look around here, or even sign up and ask the question they would know.

Those would be using Nickle Metal Hydride or Nickle Cadmium batteries. Those DO need to be completely discharged before recharging.

The Voltage really won't make a difference. The phone should have a tolerance range that will be greater than 0.1V

I was thinking the same thing, however to be sure the people on that forum would know for sure.
