GRANDE PRAIRIE -- A hunter who fought off and mortally wounded a charging grizzly bear last week said he had no chance to run and was forced to defend himself.

Yikes. That's definitely one of those stories where I go "if that had been me, I would be dead." He gets out of it with just a broken arm.

Any chance we could sign him to a 2-way contract and keep him around for the odd fight against Derek Boogaard? No way even Boogaard is tougher than a bear.

He's extremely lucky. You gotta have a pretty big knife and a lot of leverage to get anywhere dangerous to a Grizzly. Plenty of people have shot at charging grizzlies accomplishing nothing but pissing him off more.
