After it was reported that the Canadian Legion's Ajax branch was denied a federal grant for Canada Day celebrations because it missed the deadline for funding applications, many people responded with donations. Among the largest of the gifts was $1,000 from Faheem Boukhari, president of the Mississauga Muslim Community Centre.
