Default Athiests go door to door on Mormons

what a novel idea

intro is rather boring, but after about halfway through when they start going door to door in Salt Lake City i was laughing my ass off. i'm tempted to start doing this to Jehova's Witnesses

That's awesome.

I absolutely agree with him that, you can believe whatever you believe, just don't push it on me. It's just too bad that religion pushing is part of the mormon faith.

whatev, i always give those mormons on their mission a minute or two of my time. if you say you're not interested they'll talk about pretty much anything. and if you ask them to help you move or do some heavy lifting, they're obligated to say yes no matter what and you don't need to buy them a case of beer for reperation! truthfully, i've never been confronted with pushy mormons.

I don't mind the Mormons, always polite and good natured. They can be pretty interesting, especially if you get a guy on a missionary from somewhere far away. I had a dude from Alabama come to the door a few weeks back. He was an different cat. Tried to explain the difference between the LDS church and the reformed LDS. The local kid, on the other hand was duller then a two bit knife.

I guess it really depends on your upbrining then. When my dad first moved here to Canada from China, he had a really bad experience. He didn't understand what they were trying to preach, so he tried to explain that, but I guess they misunderstood him, but they kind of backed him into a corner and it scared the living daylights out of him. So ever since, he's been totally afraid of mormons. And it's funny, because once 2 of them dropped by while we were headed out the door, and I've never seen my dad run so fast before in my life. So it can be they're not REALLY that bad and I've just been raised to not like them. But all groups of people have good and bad.

there are no mormons where i grew up, but plenty of Jehova's who like to knock on doors. the only time i can remember though was as a kid i was playing in the yard as my dad was hammering shingles on the roof. these two very nerdly dressed guys start walking down our driveway with bible in hand, though my dad was too busy with his work to notice them. they get about halfway to our door when dad misses a nail and slams the hammer into his finger. he then proceeds to let loose a string of obscenities that would make a hockey player blush. the two bible pushers simply turned around and walked away

they never did come back to our house after that

I so hope a morman comes to my door in the next couple of days because I'm going to ask for some help moving all that cut up grass out of my back yard. I'll go to hell for making a couple guys in their Sunday best lift and move heavy dirty grass, but that might be worth it.

I was on a city bus in Lethbridge a couple of years ago and there was a Mormon preaching to a young native girl. He started to go on about how other Christians are racist and don't like natives, and how they all beat woman. The guy was so full of crap. Having said that, most Mormons I met were fine people. They always seem so happy.

As for atheists, I would respect them more if they took the high ground instead of preaching themselves.

I've had nothing but good experiances with Mormons on their missions. Frankly I have a certain respect for them. They're cheerful, they say "hi" when you walk past them on the street, and I've had experainces where they just chat and didn't speak a word of their religion.

I mean after all they are the one true religion, the proof was given in another thread and is below here:

I live right across the street from an LDS church and apart from a couple of early morning knocks when I first moved here, I haven't had a problem with any of the mormons around here. Of course, I do have a black shirt with 666 printed on it that I only use for such ocassions.
They may be nice people and what not but I hate anyone who goes door to door trying to push they beliefs, be they mormons of jehova's witness. Good on those atheists...it would be nice to see more people doing stuff like that. Perhaps that way these doorknockers will get the point

The one thing people forget is that to "push their beliefs" is part of what they think will bring them salvation. It's hardwired into the organization of their religion. So as long as they are mormon, this is what is expected of them.

They may believe that but they should realize that people don't want to be bothered at home. Doorknockers are just as annoying as telemarketers.

You hate the religious people that go door-to-door, but it's OK for the atheists to do it?

Edit- Too slow I see.

Oh, I thought you meant you hoped they would get the point about them pushing their ideas, not door knocking. Sorry, misunderstanding. So then, would you have issue with them approaching you on the street and preaching?

In this case I think it's great for the atheists to give these people a taste of their own annoying medicine.

I guess I should have clarified this just for you. I did mean to include the pushing of their beliefs when I called them "doorknockers" because I thought the meaning would be clear.

as for them approaching me on the street, as they have done before...it's just as annoying but easily solved by just ignoring them and walking away.

Then it just loops right back to my original point. Pushing their beliefs is another part of being mormon. They're not just going to get the point and stop. If they stop pushing, then they stop being mormon. That's all I wanted to say.

I was born and raised Mormon and was probably going to go on a mission till I was about 8 years old…I will say that more the most part missionaries are good dudes and more the most part they are just regular kids that probably didn’t really want to go but there overzealous parents made them, I don’t really have much to do with the church now but if a missionaries comes across my path I talk to them because I know they aren’t from here, they are just guys my age who for the most part where forced out of there homes to go to a place they know nothing about to go and talk to new people everyday.
