Radio contest ends up in Facebook flap
Calgary gag nearly put homeless man backstage at show

Not sure how many of you have joined this group, but it is the Help +15 guy meet Gwen Stefani with Vibe 98.5 group that has about 3700 members. The back story is that Vibe was offerring tickets and backstage passes to whoever could get the most Facebook members to join their group.

It now appears there has been some back pedalling by Vibe. An interesting story.

Those damn group invitations piss me off to no end…however the one group I wasn’t invited too would probably be the only one I would want to join…whoever thought his up that is golden I know the powers at be won’t allow +15 guys to met Gwen but just the thought alone makes me laugh

I really wish they had not opened facebook up to the general public. So much better when you had to have a valid university e-mail. Damn old people on there now! grumble grumble.

I think it's the walking nomad. My buddies and I are convince he's this super rich millionaire who just walks around randomly all day, waiting for someone to acknowledge him, to which he will respond by giving them a million dollars for their generosity.

I have rejected every single "Help so and so meet Gwen Stefani" invitation, except for the one for the +15 guy. At first I just joined because I thought it was funny, but then I realized these guys had something good going on there. Pretty wild how much controversy something like this stirred up though.

My Facebook news feed is always filled with "What's her face joined the group for some d-bag to meet Gwen with Vibe 98.5!" There must be a couple dozen of these groups, and it seems like no one is joining the same one. The other day I saw a group called "No! I will never join a group that has anything to do with Vibe 98.5." The irony of that group is just delicious.

Also I bet the exposure this +15 guy group is getting will cause it to explode. And can't they just make the guy a Facebook account so he can be allowed in the rules?

Apparently the creator of the group has enlisted the help of a counsellor who deal with the homeless to ask him about this.

The good that's coming out of it is many people pledged donations if he wins, and so far a couple of grand has gone to various homeless agencies.

I think it's the latter. The young guy with the beard who wears all black and just wanders with his head down all day. Not sure if I'd call him grumpy...never seen him interact, speak or even lift his head.

I'm surprised that Vibe danced around this subject, and wants nothing to do with it rather than taking the oppertunity to atleast aknowledge it, and make a donation or something.

Way to sweep it under the rug Vibe.

I hate that contest and and all the stupid requests I get for people I don't even know. I hadn't heard about this +15 guy yet, but I think it's a great idea to get back at a stupid promo. Better then the Vote for Rory stuff.

+15 guy is awesome. I've seen him a lot over the years. I've seen him in summer wear, t-shirt phase. He was well groomed at the time, short hair and no beard. And then he went through a torn t-shirt phase. Then I saw him in his jacket phase...and now his long matted hair and beard phase.
