Default Price Check on a digital camera from Dell.

Hey guys thought i'd get some expert help on this subject. I want just a basic camera nothing fancy and cheap so I can use it for trips and won't get mad if a $120 camera gets broken, not like I will try to break it but you know what I mean. I found this guy on Dell.ca, I don't know a lot about Cameras but what I do know this seeems decent.

What do you guys think? What are the main points you should loook for when shopping for a digital camera? Any and all info appreciated, thanks guys.

The optics on that specific model aren't the best. If you're willing to spend thirty or fourty dollars more, I can help you find a decent camera. I will PM you.

There is no optical zoom on that camera. That camera also appears rather thick. You can do better for just a little bit more money.

Buying a camera like that becomes frustrating after a while.

This might be alright.

The optical zoom, thinner form factor and better quality lens will prove to make it a significantly better camera for the cost.

Now I know I said I wanted to keep the price down but... I did a little fishing and found this puppy..

Whats that look like with price compared to quality? Seems like its a hot seller right now for the price. Not sure if thats where I would order from just the cheapest price that came up in a price comparison list.

I do like the idea of buying from Future Shop, or LD, because then I can just buy it in town here and the accessories and do not have to order it online and deal with them for warranty, sometimes that can be quite a hassle compared to face to face purchases.

Olympus isn't bad.
Check out dpreview.com to see what they have to say about it.

My personal favorites are Panasonics and Canons.

I have a low-end Olympus (probably comparable to your model, considering price, but older) and it is a piece of crap. I won't get another Olympus. The picture quality is bad, the battery life is brutal and the "functionality" of the whole thing is terrible.

That being said, I got mine through airmiles points, so maybe they dumped off the worst model on people who wouldn't bother with returns, warranties or complaints.
