Was out and about finishing my last minute Christmas shopping in the Shaughnessy area. Happened to be passing by Nevada Bob's and noticed they were having a 50% off everything sale. Sale on till Christmas.

Went inside to confirm and the clerks said it was true. So I loaded up on about 6 dozen golf balls for next summer. That and some head covers for my clubs. At 50% off you can't go wrong. lol The staff from from Golf Town were over there stocking up on golf balls for the summer too.

At that 50% off it got me thinking if maybe Nevada Bob's in trouble and we might see a close out sale in the new year.

Apparently there was the same sale last year, so its not a sign of a closeout.

Some stuff is excluded I gather, such as a bunch (or maybe all) of the higher end clubs and iron sets...but yes, a good deal to stock up on balls and accessories.

You are correct, some high end clubs were excluded - forget which ones. Clothing, balls, carts etc were on sale. The Titlest Pro V's were all gone when I got there.

Yeah, i was at the deerfoot meadows one this morning and there was a huge banner outside the store. Seem like a lot of places are having sales. I was also at michaels and a lot of stuff there was 30% off and there was a 50% off coupon in the paper this morning, but you can only use it on something that isn't on sale.

Man, at 50% off, it really makes you wonder how much profit these retail stores make at other times of the year.

That was me!

On my break I went over and grabbed some balls. Its better than our discount! The guy working there was a real a-hole to me until I bought something though, he just thought I was checking out the prices.

I was talking to the manager at one of the Nevada Bob stores, and he said it works because their margins aren't very good, but the volume of sales this generates is amazing.

Just got back, and I recommend to anyone who golfs to go check it out. It's not busy at all (although parking is a pain seeing as the one in Deerfoot Meadows is right beside a Future Shop) but I got a full set up of the following:

Callaway X18 irons
Callaway Big Bertha 3W
Callaway FT1 driver
White hot putter
Callaway backpack bag

For just over $1000.00!!!!!

and yes, I grabbed some cheap balls as well.
