Wow. Sad story. I'd like to know more details though before making such ridiculous comments as the ones above. Not that there's any justification for what she did, but there could certainly be extenuating circumstances we're unaware of. For example, where's the baby's father? Who is he, how did she get pregnant, and why wasn't he around to help?

I'm not going to judge her except to say that she obviously needed help she didn't get for some reason.

There's tons of childless couples who would gladly take a baby. Wait years for the privilage, in fact. I'm glad that 40 some years ago, girls didn't do this kind of thing, because I wouldn't be around.

I'm not saying it isn't sick, but for you to say "chances are it wasn't" is an ignorant comment. You don't know the girls situation. You don't know what happened to her. For you to first say "close your legs" and then go on to say "chances are it wasn't rape," you're making very apparent your ignorance on this matter.

She's a 17 year old girl who has obvious mental health issues. Why are you coming down so hard on her and not the guy who hacked off his buddy's arm and then tried to burn the rest of his body here in Calgary? Because the person he killed was an adult? Mental issues are mental issues.

Never heard about the guy who did that. That's sick too. But unless it comes out that the girl was raped I'm sticking to my opinion that this is just another teen pregnancy.

And for normal people who go through a teen pregnancy, they usually tell their mothers and don't try to hide it, in addition to usually giving birth in a hospital, etc. There's obviously something wrong with the girl. Telling her to close her legs is just stupid. Have you ever been a 17 year old fat girl? Do you know what that's like? I mean really, read through some of the threads on here about women and you'll notice that the predominant opinion on fat girls is not favorable. Now put that girl in high school and make her pregnant. Yeah, not having sex is a good start, but maybe some counselling? What must have caused her to do such a thing? Do you really think she's stable and stabbed her baby 135 times for fun?

Ironically, the neighbour's daughter was pregnant while still in highschool and she was a big girl. She never did admit to her parents she was pregnant until she went into labour. While I dont agree with her getting pregnant at a young age atleast she lived with her mistake.

And no, of course I dont think she stabbed her baby for fun but I do think she saw it as a way of hiding her pregnancy. Regardless if it was a heat of the moment thing I have no sympathy for her and nothing you say will change that.

There is ABSOLUTLEY no defense for what she did. If she was raped, have an abortion or give the kid up! No defense for that...NONE! I guarantee you that you can't tell me something that would change my mind.

Absolutely disgusting and a heinous act. As people said, rape or not there are other methods available. I think someone has to be insane to be able to do that though mentally....but that is absolutely disgusting. We don't need people like that in this world.
