A-Rod To Be A Cub Next Year?
http://tsn.ca/mlb/news_story/?ID=219059&hubname=mlb
That would be an interesting pick up for the Cubs, anyone else think this guy won't be a Yankee next year?

Although I can't stand the Yankees, it seems like a dumb move on their side to part ways with such a gifted player. The Skanks batting is deep, but A-Rod and Jeter pretty much dictate the play for the line-up I'd say, and finance shouldn't seem to a problem for them.
Considering A-Rod's off to possible career highs in HR's, RBI's and batting average, and considering his age, it doesn't seem like a good idea to 'replace' him with someone else.
Unless, of course, A-Rod himself is tired of the Skanks. Which would be strange, as he's a home-town boy up in NYC. Personally I'd love to see him walk, I think he's a tremendous player, a text-book example of how the sport should and can be played.

That is a BS report - just a little bit of tampering if even an ounce of that story is true.
I have my Yankee homer goggles on - but I see them extending him before he can opt out - I think they have a 13 day window after the World Series ends before he can opt out.

50+ HRs - 146 RBIs - .312 batting average tells me that they'll probably keep him. If they don't make it to the World Series, it will be questionable because of the fickle New York media when it comes to The Yankees.
espn.com is reporting that the rumours are untrue.

Maybe the Giants will sign him after dumping Super Steroid Man.

you know, i think bonds will catch on with somebody. sure he's a dick, and can't play defence to save his life, but man can he hit home runs. you make him dh and toss him into the 4 spot...he'd make a damn good clean-up hitter

Even having an off year...his OBSP is still well over 1.000. He's a bit of a distraction in the locker room, but his presence in the middle of a good lineup would be huge. IMO you're 3 hitter and 5 hitter would see a lot of good pitches to hit and your 5 guy is going to be going up there with a guy on base at least 45% of the time. If the Jays didn't have Thomas signed for next year, I'd say Bonds would be a good guy for them to hit 4th. Won't happen, but the Jays could use a left handed bat like that.

Not only would that have been tampering but apparently MLB has a rule that a current player cannot have ownership shares in the team they play for.

I think it all depends on how the yankees do in the playoff's. If A-rod has another crappy post season and becomes the whipping boy again I say he bolts.
If he does leave I say he goes to the Angels, Dodgers, Red-Sox or White-Sox.
