Caps Gear up for the Stretch
The Washington Capitals would like to announce the acquisition of Alex Tanguay from the Dallas Stars. Coming with him is DF center Blair Betts and a suitcase of cash.
Daniel Sedin and a 4th round draft pick was sent to Dallas to acquire the slick playmaker.
The Capitals feel that by acquiring all-star Tanguay they have really solidified their top 6. The addition of Blair Betts will help solidify the bottom 2 lines and give the Capitals a good Pker and shut down guy.
Unfortunately to make the deal happen the capitals had to part ways with Marcel Hossa... while a chronic underacheiver at the NHL level, he had been on fire of late.. having had a PPG in the last 7 games. Hossa was sent to the Isles for prospect Colin Fraser... who could get a crack at 4th line duty with the Flyers next NHL season..... hossa's 2.4 million a year contract was too much for his production.
Top 7 guys for the Capitals are now as follows.... Naslund, Tanguay, Demitra, Nagy, Horton, Parrish and Bernier.....
The Capitals have their sites set on competing for the cup this season.
