I wonder if all the Walmarts would get them? They all get shipments out of the same warehouse in the NE.

Perhaps I'll check the Marlborough Walmart after work - it is only a few blocks away from my work.

Yeah I thought as much, a few other Walmarts got them in and sold out right away. Didn't check the Marlborough one though.

I never said I didn't... I have a DS for christs sake. I did say that they put out too much kiddy games though.

But for $279 and the innovation of the system, why would I not want one?

Be wary of the $279... By the time you buy all the accessories you need, it costs nearly as much as an Xbox 360 or PS3.

Extra Controller and Nunchuk - $70
- You only get one, and those motion sports games are only fun in a group. Ideally, you'd want 4 pairs.

Classic Controllers (for NES, SNES, any other downloadable games) - $25 each

Memory Card - $100 for the Nintendo 2gb Mini SD, but any 1gb or 2 gb Mini SD works

Gamecube controllers if you want to play any gamecube games - $40 for the wireless ones.

It all adds up. With my no-name memory card, extra controller and nunchuk, and 2 classic controllers, I have already spent $459. And, I still need Gamecube controllers.

All in all, I'm happier with the $660 I spent on the PS3 than the $450 I spent on the Wii. Granted, its innovative, but the included Wii Sports games are little more than a proof of concept for the motion.

Edit: Corrected the cost of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk.

The SD Card is only for backup purposes.. you do NOT need one.

Classic Controllers.. you can use the GC controllers for all the classic games in VC. so that's anothe r25 dollars off.

A controller with nunchuk will set you back 70.. Not 90. That is.. if you can find a set.

Plus he conviently left off the fact that PS3 only comes with one controller as well. $60 a pop times three = $180.

Any way you look at it the Wii is a cheaper (and IMO better) option.

You are right. They controller and nunchuk are only $70 - I mistakengly remembered them both being $45 instead of $45 and $25.

I think you will need a SD card eventually. There is only 512MB of onboard memory on the Wii, and that will fill up as you download things and save games.

I didnt know you could use the Gamecube controllers instead of the Classic controllers. I Wish I would have known that before I bought them before Christmas.

I forgot that you also need a memory card for the Gamecube in order to play Gamecube games - pretty shoddy not to allow saving to one of the Wii datastores.

Still, $279 doesnt cover what you need. Especially for those of us that didnt have Gamecubes.

I am not here to change anyone's mind... I've never seen that accomplished successfully on any message board. All I was saying was that $279 doesnt cover the costs of what you need to enjoy a Wii.

The Wii would have been A LOT better if they had made is a little higher end. For instance, the Wii Remotes should contain Lithium Ion batteries instead of AA. A Hdd should have been included. HD would be way better. Because I constantly feel like I'm playing a system that cut corners when using my Wii, I prefer my PS3. It feels like a high end system - it is too bad there are not many great games yet.

Back on the topic of this thread.... Has anyone seen any Wii Remotes this week anywhere in Calgary?

I picked up a 2 GB SD card at Future Shop on Boxing Day for $30. So not a major burn in my pocket w00t! And hey, if you previously owned a GC, you would have most of those items anyway! Mind you I don't own a GC. But that's fine. I just won't buy GC games.

And PS3 games (as well as Blue Ray DVDs) are more expensive than Wii games, which may also add up (Plus the fact that there is only one game that is PS3 exclusive at the moment, which is pretty weak).

Edit: Yah I agree that HD cables should have come with the system. That did set me back $50.

Edit 2: A friend of mine picked up a Wiimote from Roger's Video a few days ago, which is funny 'cause she doesn't even have a Wii yet heh.
