Unfortunately I found the way to score easily in this game, which is too bad as I hate the cheap goals.

To try this, go to Free4All. Pick Jarome Iginla of course

Now start on the right side of the rink level with the top of the circle. Skate in diagonally towards the bottom of the left circle. As you approach the slot, hold down the slap shot button. Jarome will continue to drift towards the left side of the rink. Aim for the top left corner, and release the shot button just as the puck is getting close to the left circle.

After trying it out for a bit it seems like about 9 of 10 go in

I guess the good news is you will get hammered alot trying this during the game, but breakaways will forever be ruined.

quite often there's something like this in the nhl games...

i'm not a huge player of them but i remember way back in nhl 94 (i think), you could score pretty much all the time by passing it at the goalie.

i hear of something like this every couple of years when the games are re-worked.

i wonder sometimes if it's not intentional.

I had NHL 93 on my old 486, and I used to have a set play where I would be behind the net, pass it out front and have a guy score from the slot. It would work almost all the time.

Sounds like the way you score all the time on NHL '99 too

I have yet to get one breakaway... the computer get's them all the time. Even if my player is skating right beside the other and shoulder checks him lightly. He doesn't even have a stride on my player, but still get's the call.

I know what you mean, breakaways are rare. I get them every now again, usually on a major turnover. I can sometimes manage to set up a guy alone in front of the net though, by skating around the back and drawing in the lone d-man, and leaving my centre to put the puck home from 10 metres away.

The trick I figured out was coming in from the right and just as you hit the slot tap the slap shot button and aim for the glove side. I try not using it though as much as possible and lowering the shot accuracy slider seems to decrease it.

holy double negatives!

Unfortunately the only thing I can suggest is getting some better faceoff guys at centre and pick the practice schedule that boosts faceoff performance.

A better way to score is to get the team I have amassed. Averaging almost 7 goals per game.

the lines are as follows:

Kovalchuk - Datsyuk - Iginla
Nash - Spezza - Havlat
Frolov - Patrice Bergeron - Ryder
Zherdev - Weiss - Morozov

(Injured: Joe Thornton; Marian Gaborik. Scratched: Oleg Saprykin, who I refuse to get rid of)

Pitkanen - Boynton
Bouwmeester - Jackman
Klesla - Leopold

(Scratched: Regehr; Pock)

Kiprusoff
Blackburn
(Scratched: Biacaushua)

And my payroll is still below league average

I would like to know how? 1st season? or did you just do some file tweaking

why don't you just put the game on easy while you are at it.

In NHL 94 all you needed to do was pass from the middle of the left/right face off circle slightly passed the edge and shoot.
