The Ottawa Senators have made a few moves over the past few days.
While none may be blockbusters we feel they are good long term moves.
The first move saw the Senators ship out Vitali Vishnevsky and Alexander Picard for Brent Seabrook and Brett Carson.
This moves sees us get younger and aquire a very good young Dmen in Seabrook. it also brings in a good young Dmen in Carson for the future.
With a few UFA's to be on the roster we decided to look to the future. The next 2 moves were made for just that reason.
Going to Atlanta is Vetran and UFA Andy Sutton along with a 4th round pick. Coming back to Ottawa is young Dmen David Hale along with 900k in Cash. Hale is a very good young Dmen that is starting to come into his own.
He joins a young group of Defencemen that include. Seabrook, Hamhuis, Boynton. These young bucks are sorounded by Pronger and Witt.
The last move saw Joe Nieuwendyk leave the fold. We are sad to see Joe go but he was a UFA to be. Coming to Ottawa is Antoine Vermette.
Vermette is a young 23 year old player that is starting to come into his own. We are looking for him to lineup on the 3rd line this year and challenge for 2nd line Duty soon.
And that is the an update on the Senators this summer. More youth brought in. Does this help us win a championship this year?? no not really but it does give us a good group of young players to build toward such a goal.
that being said.. Hale and Vermette could be available in the right deal
As always comments are welcome.
