Default Day 4 Calgary Flames Hockey School

well, we are into day 4 of the Calgary Flames Hockey School and things are heating up.
Day 3 saw the young Flames prospect Pete see a lot of ice time and some evaluation of play.
Goal clinic involved all 21 goalies teamed up with 21 instructors for a circuit on ice. 6 different stations had the goalies doing 6 different things.
from butterfly stances to facing one timers in the slot!.
Pete seem to hold up quite well doing all the things he should be doing.
During one station, pete requested to be in goal for the demonstration of the one timer. the instructor asked pete if he should hold back on the shot. Pete shook his head and told the instructor to let it rip
pete never flinched and proceeded to stop the shot and deflect it into the corner. I never thought he would be brave or stupid enough to do it, but he stood right in there. Crazy freaking kid!!!
later on during the session, Pete went down into the butterfly to stop a shot but his pad went kinda funny and ended up taking a puck off the top of the knee. Needless to say, he flopped around on the ice like a fish outta water, but shook it off with the help of an instructor and never left the ice. He now has a nice lil momento on the top of the knee which is proceeding to turn a few different colours.

The highlight of the day was when Justin Pogge stopped by to sign some autographs. Pogge, the netminder of the World Champion junior squad was a true sport signing over a hundred autographs during his stay here.
Pete was the first one off the ice when he arrived and quickly proceeded to get his jersey and stick signed with proud poppa taking pictures.

all in all a successful day with nothing but smiles to go around.
once again, a tired trooper slept on the way back to the campsite.
Today should feature the arrival of either Rhett Warrner or Byron Ritchie along with Chuck Kobasew.

The kids are more excited aobut the pros showing up than the camp itself.

camp ends on saturday with a game starting at 8:00AM at the centennial arena for those of you that would like to stop by. I will of course be more than willing to buy coffee.

Thanks for letting me brag about my kid here. its great to see him have this much fun!

just as a side note, my son asked Pogge which team he was playing for this year..and he said that it was either the Maple Leafs (wishingful thinking) or the Marlies.
I guess that means he wont be returning to junior to complete his last season.
anybody know what the depth in goaltending looks like for the NHL Leafs?

interesting, I guess he might actually have a chance to make the big club. I am sure with much chagrin to Aubin and Telqvist

He might have a crack at it, but he'd probably be better served to start with the Marlies and play 60-65 games as opposed to play a handful of games in Toronto.
