Anyone else notice that the KFC ad promoting their "variety bucket" or whatever its called has been changed? If you haven't seen it, the camera goes around a table where you hear each family members thoughts about their favourite part of the variety pack, ie; mom saying to herself "I hope nobody wants the original recipe chicken", dad saying to himself "I hope nobody wants the popcorn chicken" or whatever the various chicken parts are....anyhow.....it gets to grandma and she says "I hope nobody wants the free hat" and the camera pans back and she has the empty bucket on her head. Cracks me up every time. I just saw the ad again last night and they cut out grandma, and at the end of the ad where they pan back and show the whole dining room, the bucket has been removed from grandma's head!?! WTF!?! Is this somehow offensive and somebody complained enough to have the ad changed that drastically? I don't get it, whats the big deal.

Someone liked that commercial? Damn. I thought that one was one of the worst commercials on TV. KFC's crappy commercials are only better than Boston Pizza and Howie Mandel. But if it was because someone complained that is quite PC.

My personal favorite commercial right now is on the radio with the carpet. The first time I heard compulsive carpet stroking I fell of my chair laughing.

Most likely someone claimed because it made old people look stupid. People will complain about anything.

Personally it made me laugh.

Most changes like this get made with little or no fanfare. The companies don't want to draw attention to the fact they've back off. But it happens a lot - most of the time though the changes are less significant. However, if anyone was to pick up on it, it would likely be Marketing Magazine so maybe keep an eye out there for something.

It may have just been a time thing. Those extra seconds removed might save them a lot of money, who knows?

On a side note, KFC has to be the most vile excuse for food on this planet. My sister and her family seem to like it though.

The best KFC ad campaign was a few months ago where they'd have somebody run into someone else and say "john, you look great, what've you been doing?" The guy's response would be "eating chicken". Needless to say they pulled the ads pretty quickly, i'm guessing there would have been some law suits for eating this "health food"

Same here. I find it almost disgusting. Love the gravy, love the popcorn chicken, hate everything else. Whenever I want chicken, I head over to mary browns. Mmmm.... juicy.

i think KFC, as opposed to other fast food joints, has a greater variance of quality between locations.

i won't name exact business sites but there's more thn one KFC in calgary that i'll never go to again.

asto that ad, i'm sorry to hear it's gone, but oh well.

darn chemicals, making me crave it fortnightly!

edited for topic relevance

ha!

that's like those subway ads.

i mean i know a sandwich without cheese, mayo, etc. doesn't clog the arteries, but come on!

the average sandwich sold out of subway has more than seven grams of fat.

the average square inch of KFC chicken skin probably has more than that!

Actually the point of those particular ads was how healthy the chicken was sans skin. I think it was pretty prominent in the ad IIRC.

never seen the ad.

thought he was referring to a KFC health ad, but re-reading seems to be for just chicken in general perhaps.

chicken without the skin is supposedly a lot better for you, but man does that skin taste good!

It was prominent... in little words at the bottom of the screen.

And all the chicken they showed in the ad was covered in breading.

Frank, that was also one of my favorite commercials. It was extremely well done.

When I noticed the change I too assumed that somebody complained about it and they were forced to change it. All of the best commercials get ruined because some tightwad gets offended by something that has no relevance to what they're offended of. Grrrr... :mad2:

On 22 Minutes last week they made fun of a bunch of new commercials, and this KFC ad was particularly ripped. I wonder if they changed it after that?

I remember seeing a commercial down in the USA where they were touting KFC as "Kitchen Fresh Chicken." That made me chuckle.

Still, I can't resist it's dirty call to me...especially on Tuesdays.
