I need some help here, It's my wedding anniversary tomorrow (I know, cutting it close), and I need to find a fancy place to take her to. I have a call in at the Highwood (great food, great prices)....but they are usually booked fairly solid. So I am calling on my Flame Fan brethren to give a guy a hand. I heard that there is a nice place somewhere in the south side near Fish Creek, but I'll be darned if I can remember.....anyone??
Thanks

The resturaunt at the top of the Calgary Tower is big pimpin'. Cost me and my girl about $60 including admission to the tower for lunch one time. Best view of the city by far.

That place out at Prince Island Park that you have to walk to is great, expensive, but worth it.

Not sure if you can get in these places on short notice, but worth a shot (assuming you have the money to burn, but seeing how it's the first anniversary, you'll need to drop some coin :biglaff
River Cafe (the one MMF was talking about)
Lacaille on the Bow
Perhaps Caesars or Hys?
Catch
who could forget the Calgary Tower?

The Westin just renovated and opened a new grill (the former Owl's Nest). I can't think of the name off hand, but I was there recently and it was wonderful. I highly recommend it!

The Ranche is insanely good....but pricey. I took 6 clients there a few years ago, and after 3 hrs of drinking/eating I walked out with a mind boggling bill that was close to a grand. Great food and service, but you pay through the nose.
The Calgary Tower is more of a novelty for out of towners, IMO. The food is average but the restaraunt spins!! Whooo!!
Lacaille, Caesars and the Chophouse all get a   from me.
Hys is OK, but pricey as well. I would rate it the same as Smugglers, but more money.
Try La Chaumiere (sp?). I know one of the waiters there who has worked all over the city, and he's constantly raving about it. I've eaten there once, and it was pretty tasty (Not sure about price, though...I didn't pay).
Or for Italian, I would recommend Villa Firenze. One of my local favs.

I've been to the one in Canmore and they had great food. Is it the same menu for the one in Calgary?

river cafe, in princes island park? if thats the one then i gotta say it didnt work for me and my girl. great food not a bad price but the atmosphere was more of a ski lodge then a romatic setting.
Hys is good and the atmosphere makes for a nice date.
and for something more fun try sultans tent. maybe not for a aniversary but most girls seem to enjoy it simply cause its diferent. wash your hands for you and stuff like eating with your hands, kinda diferent.

Talking about going downhill..... Smugglers Inn.
Their brunch was the worse thing i have eaten in a while. They actually closed off half the restaurant now because no one wants to come and eat their lousy food. What happened? This is brunch only and not dinner.
