Default Ray McGovern makes an onimous prediction...

Staged attacks will take place in Europe and America to justify an attack on Iran. His cohorts are thinking September or October (a much more transparent date), but McGovern points out the pieces are in position to strike soon.

http://www.infowars.com/articles/ww3..._june_july.htm

For those of you who don't know him, Ray McGovern is an ex-CIA analyst who publicly dressed down Rumsfeld and held his feet to the fire on Iraq and the intelligence that was used to get into that conflict. He is on the steering group for Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS), a collective of intelligence agents who believe their work has been used for improper and illegal means, who are active in promoting the truth about the Iraqi occupation (as they see it from working on the inside).

A possible date for something major on American soil is June 19th, when a war exercise will have the foundations of the government retreating to protective bunkers.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...060201410.html

This is the largest continuity of government exercise ever undertaken. It should be noted that during 9/11, 15 different "exercises" were taking place which created mass confusion for the responders to the situation.

Another point worth mentioning, U.S. Navy has 4 carrier groups at sea already (Enterprise, Lincoln, Kitty Hawk and Reagan) with 4 more (Eisenhower, Washington, Roosevelt and Stennis) being deployed this month as well. This is the largest deployment of U.S. ships on record.

I thought this was a very interesting (and damn scary) scenario from a group of people who were paid to access and predict these scenarios for the intelligence community and thought I'd share it. Now let the dog pile on the "conspiracy theorist" commence!

A late addendum. Guess what is on the docket for discussion in the house today?

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill...bill=h109-4752

Personally i think this is a premptive strike by the Democrats and has no hope of passing (its way too wide ranging and has too many loopholes for the neo-cons liking) and will only force the Republicans to rewrite it using this framework if they hope to get it passed in short order. Otherwise its a complete re-draft of the bill and will take months to get it re-written.

So.. now if there is an attack, will the first thought be "oh well, it's only the US playing mind games"?

I don't know. Definitely a possiblity. If the projection of attacks are of the scale suggested (a nuclear attack on the UN for instance) and they are close to what they figure is going to happen, you have to wonder. When a guy who spent years doing analysis for the CIA, and many of his peers are involved in the same organization, says that the story is cooked and not real I tend to give him the time of day. When he completely humiliates Rumsfeld with the same data that was used to get into the war in the first place I think it lends significant credibility to his voice. Add in the use of fear and terrorist threats (not a single one of them true) as a diversionary tactic during the last election and it makes you wonder.

Wonder? Wonder how they prevented the attacks so well or if they were actually possible to begin with?

That's the problem with these kind of things. When they don't happen, nobody knows whether it was just a thought or if it was a real possibility.

We've heard the whole "we hear terrorist chatter about a certain date". Is it just people talking or real threats? Unless something happens, it's impossible to know.
