That is the most UNDERrated movie!
We have the movie channels right now at home so we can watch the Sopranos, so I've been staying up late and watching stuff I haven't seen, and stuff I have that I really liked I've been re-watching.
Anyhow. Tim Burtons "Big Fish" was on the other night so I watched it again. I guess its the whole "father-son" thing that gets me, but man, what a beautifully made movie!
What are your guys' picks for underrated movies?

Good call one that one! had that been M Night's first flick people would have loved it! But its still my favorite of all his films, but I say Hoosiers, its an oldie but easily one of the best basketball movie if not sports movie ever made

I agree, I didn't get why people disliked that movie so much, I thought it was pretty good.

M Night's new movie 'Lady in the Water' is coming out in July. Trailer looks pretty good. He's now with a new production company so maybe this one will be a bit different. Who knows.
About 'Unbreakable', I remember anxiosuly looking forward to it, but when I ended up seeing it I was thoroughly disappointed. I don't know, maybe my expectation level was set too high after 'The Sixth Sense'. Personally I liked 'Signs' better than 'Unbreakable', and also 'The Village'.

Three Kings, I loved it's subtle humour. Not sure how it did at the box office, but I consider this under-rated.

I have to agree with Unbreakable.
One that I just loved was Pluto Nash. It was just a good fun movie; a little comedy and a little sci fi.

I think every Shyamalan film other than Sixth Sense is underrated. Unbreakable is so good in many ways, Signs is absolutely his best film (as well as the best Mel Gibson film ever), and The Village, though widely hated, actually had a lot to say once you get past the fact that the 'twist' in it was pretty obvious. I love the fact that every film he does works with these two concepts of fear and belief and explores them in different ways.
Yeah, Big Fish was good. It's sort of like the Shyamalan films in that it would have been considered fantastic had anyone else made it, but given that it was Burton, there was a certain level of weirdness that everyone was expecting and ended up being disappointed in.
My pick would be Gattica, my favorite science-fiction movie of all time. So subtle and completely lacking in special effects, but great acting, gorgeous art direction, and really interesting and timely questions.

Strange Brew
I've probably watched it more than any other movie. I wore out my VHS tape.
When I was down in Mexico last month, it was funny to see it on Mexican TV , and they replaced "Hoser" with "Tonto" in the spanish sub-titles.

I love Unbreakable as well. I love the idea of a whole movie devoted to a guy discovering he is essentially a superhero. Take out the last 10 seconds and its flawless.
Big Fish is great as well
Some other choice:
- Grand Canyon (a much better and more subtle version of Crash)
- In America
- The Three Colors series (particularly Red)
- Love, Actually
- About a Boy
- Out of Sight, The Limey (the two best from Steve Sorderberg)
- The Neverending Story (maybe not under-rated but I love it!)
and...Searching for Bobby Fischer. A fine family movie.

Big Fish is a strange one, I didn't think it was all that great until like 20 minutes after it was over when I started thinking about the themes..it does leave a lasting impression
