Default Lost

Season 2 Episode 17.

Well, I didn't notice a thread about lost being updated. but I did think the one from last week really stepped up. I was getting a bit bored.. Especially since the March 22nd one was title "All the answers" or something like that, but didn't in fact have any answers what so ever..

Ah well made up for it today and really recaptured my interest.

Now to tonights 24

agreed.

They should start going somewhere with answers... for a moment there the show was dangerously close to jumping the shark.

Yeah, I was getting bored.

Notable moments from last weeks show. The drivers license, the poker game was funny, the walls dropping down and the picture on the door, the parachute... Kate looked pretty hot too!

Yeah, it seems like they don't know where they're going with the show at times. I'm mildly interested still, but not sucked in like I was last season. I barely watch television shows as it is, and if they don't start answering some old questions, then I'll probably lose interest completely.

It seems like the whole show is based around "The Others" now. Are we supposed to forget about the polar bear and the super-natural monster that lives in the jungle? It seems to have disappeared, and no one evens mentions it or thinks about it anymore. They enter the jungle all the time without fear.

I mean, those are all questions from the 1st season, and the 2nd season is about to end. Did the writers and producers not like the story and decide to change it mid-stream? I'm starting to get that impression.

Sheesh, people are so damn impatient these days. I tell you in my day if you took drink you had to wait two days to find out if it tasted good.

So they should just wrap up a bunch of the questions so they can end the show? Or start coming up with new, more and more far fetched storylines each season just to keep it going?

IMO, the show does a great job of providing some long-running, show defining questions a la The X-Files Aliens/Gov't conspiracy mystery, some slightly smaller ones that get wrapped up occasionally (e.g. the hatch, the prisoner, Claire's abduction, the tailies, etc.) and some really good weekly character stories (e.g. Locke's saga with his Dad (anyone else notice that the Eastern lady whose house Locke inspected was Sayid's long-lost love?)).

For those who wonder whether they're just making stuff up on the fly, with some falling off the table never to be seen again (e.g. the polar bear), this Entertainment Weekly article examining the map may offer some reassurance.

As soon as shows like this give too many answers they get a lot worse. See Xfiles and Twin Peaks for prime examples.

Well, to be honest, I only liked X-Files for the 1st couple of seasons when it was a sci-fi/mystery series. Once it turned into a soap opera, I couldn't watch anymore. I see Lost going in a similar direction. I don't want to see pregnancies, love triangles, and people with personal issues. I want polar bears and trees flying into the sky. I swear, Lost is 'one dead person coming back-to-life' away from being an evening version of "Days of Our Lives".

Meh, I'll keep watching anyway since I am still interested in it a little. Interesting read btw. Thanks.

(And, yeah... I noticed Sayid's gf there. There are a lot of those coincidences. I think even in one of the Jin sequences before the crash, Hurley is actually visible for a couple of seconds on a TV in the background from when he won the lottery.)

I don't mind the stories, I don't mind some things haven't been answered. I just found a few of the things they got into boring... Like the whole Charlie and the baby episode. It was painful to watch, yet nothing comes of it, no suspense left either, it just ends after putting up with a crappy weird episode.

There are a few others... Mostly it's been good, or I wouldn't still be watching, just a few lame ones in the middle of the season when it felt like we weren't going anywhere

Another good Episode..

What's Echo up to? A temple?
Hugo is CRRRAAAZZZY

The scene with Sawyer was funny, especially when Kate came to make fun of him "I hear Timmy fell down a well"

Kate makes me laugh over and over again

I have a gut feeling that Lost jumped the shark last night. A bad episode with a cliche'd ending

They are starting to get better about revealing stuff and I realise they have to keep some mystery tot he show or else they will basically have no show left but I am starting to get tired of waiting for more info. The last couple of episodes have been getting better about revealing more info but I wonder how long they can kee on going like this before they start losing a lot of viewers.

I thought that episode ended well last night after a bit of a slow episode overall.

I still love that show. Last night wasn't the best but I think it is going to set us up for some good episodes in the next couple of weeks.

One thing that has been bugging me since the episode where Kate and Claire met Danielle and went into the other "medical" hatch. So they go through this big adventure, find this other hatch, find all the beards and costumes, I mean you think this would be key info to tell everyone when they got back. How the hell have they not mentioned all that yet to Jack or Locke or Sayid or anyone? Did it just slip their mind? That is one that that ****es me off. That episode was a big deal I thought. Now it is almost like it is forgotten.

They mentioned last night that Jack was telling everyone that they had captured an "other" maybe once Claire finds out she will spill the beans on the other hatch. Although Kate knows about the other and she never said anything....hmmmm....that one is weird. I don't get it.

From last night's episode who is "HE" that Henry Gale is talking about? Henry said the bearded guy was a nobody and that there was some other guy running the show. Very interested to find out who he was.

Did you guys know that Henry Gale is also the name of Dorothy's uncle in The Wizard of Oz? Any connection?

I haven't seen any of season 1, and only saw a couple episodes in season 2, I like the show but what/who are these "Others"? What are they doing?

They are people on the island "other" than those from the plane crash. That's about all we know. They could be part of the Darma program, or they could be others who crashed there in the past.

And they kidnapped Walt. (The black boy.)

And I think in the Wizard of OZ story, there is something about a hot air balloon too.

Although we probably won't ever hear about it again, so might as well not think about it...

The name that has to have some meaning is John Locke. The character sort of models himself along the lines of the philsophy of the real John Locke.

There are so many references to books/movies/pop culture etc. that I wonder if they are put in there to get people wondering about the significance or if some or all will end up having meaning.

Hate to agree with you.. but it certainly is getting there... Apparently the writers say they've got enough material for 6 more seasons.

Time to pull out the good stuff then now guys, else you won't make it another 2.
