Default Round 1: Red Wings Vs Predators

vs

Here we go, the heated-firendly rivalry between the Wings and the Preds will be on in the first round of the playoffs.

Standings:
Predators 44 36 6 2 96 Points
Wings 40 39 7 3 90 Points

Goals Scored:
Predators 286(3rd highest in the Howe)--3.33GF/G(9th ranked CPHL)
Wings 272(9th Highest in Howe)--3.16GF/G(21st ranked CPHL)

Goals Against:
Predators 271(4th Best in Howe)--3.15GA/G(13th ranked CPHL)
Wings 275(5th Best in the Howe)--3.20GA/G(14th ranked CPHL)

Power Play Percentage:
Predators 20.0%(4th best in the CPHL)
Wings 16.7%(10th best in the CPHL)

Penalty Kill Percentage:
Predators 84.2%(13th ranked in the CPHL)
Wings 81.7%(29th ranked in the CPHL)
FORWARDS: If you look at the stats, the Predators hold the edge, ranking 9th in the league to the Wings 21st rank. But both teams have explosive player, the Wings have Gagne, Bates, Stumpel, Sturm, Bertuzzi, Comrie and the Preds have Elias, Zetterberg, Sullivan, Yashin, Calder, Smolinksi. Edge, no team, both can score.

Defence: The Preds are +15 and the Wings are -3. This is where the series can be decided. The Preds have a superior defence with Chara, Regher, Mclaren, Strudwick headlining the top 4. The wings best rated dman is a 34 old year Klee at 73. Edge, Predators

Goaltenders: Both teams have not played many games with their goaltenders. Diepetro comes from the surprising Jets, where he was the MVP of the team. Dunham has struggled with injuries this year, he is the best rated goaltender of both teams. Both teams have decent backup tenders in case of injury. Edge, Wings

Special Teams: This will give the Preds another edge. The 4th ranked powerplay of Preds vs. 29th ranked penalty kill of Wings. Preds have a strong PP and a PK. Wings have a strong PP but lack in the PK. Edge, Predators

This is going to be a very entertaining series...Preds will edge the Wings by a close 5-4 victory in game 7.

we'll talk trash when we're done destroying the Wings trashy defence

PREDS WINGS

CENTER

Alexei Yashin (78)-----Simon Gagne (79)
Brian Smolinski (75)-- Steve Bates (76)
Mike Peca (72)--------Eric Belanger (72)
Dan Hinote (69) ------Darby Hendrickson (69)

LEFT WING

Patrick Elias (79)----Mike Comrie (76)
Steve Sullivan (76)- Jozef Stumple (75)
Sean Donovan (71)--Martin Lapointe (73)
Scott Parker (69) ---Sami Kapanen (72)

RIGHT WING

Henrik Zetterberg (73)--Todd Bertuzzi (81)
Kyle Calder (75) --------Mike Comrie (76)
Mike Knuble (73) ------- Shawn McEachern (71)
Lasse Pirjeta (70) ------David Vyborny (69)

DEFENCE

Zdeno Chara (83) ------Ken Klee (73)
Robyn Regehr (78)------Ruslan Salei (72)
Kyle McLaren (75) ------ Murray Barron (71)
Jason Strudwick (72)---Jason Woolley (72)
Craig Rivet (71) --------Aki Berg (71)
Eric Cairns (71) --------Keith Ballard (70)

GOALIES

Rick Dipietro (76) ------ Mike Dunham (79)
Martin Gerber (74) -----Johan Hedberg (71)

Big Difference is the Defence. Everyone knows that defense wins championships. But team Defense starts in net and the Wings feel Rick Dipietro could be the next Dan (Beach ball) Cloutier. Prediction - Not only is this guy going to choke But he will be pulled in at least two of the games.

Look for Detroit to exploit the rather weak right side of the Preds as well. we will control the play in the neutral zone by forcing turnovers. With 4 small rather weak inexperienced players on this wing we will simply run them over with Todd (mac truck) Bertuzzi. Prediction - This team of midgets can not compete in a long drawn out series against the overpowering more experienced and allot more talented Detroit Red Wings.

We feel that Detroit made several key additions to there lineup to wards the end of the regular season. An already explosive offense got even better with the additions of Jozef Stumple and power play quarterback Murray Baron. With league MVP Johan Hedberg expected to make the start in net this team looks to be unbeatable. As for the Preds, well they tinkered as well with there lineup. A offense that once had the likes of Lemieux, Fedorov, Heatley and others now has Parker, Hinote and some guy called Pirjeta. No longer having last season Stanley cup winning goalie Nikolai Khabibulin in net it makes this team of contenders look more like pretenders. Prediction - Detroit takes the series in 5 games.

only advantage the Wings seem to have is the one on the right side. GUESS WHAT thats where my leading scorer plays. Bertuzzi wont be owerpowering anyone from the penalty box, where he'll spend majority of the time.

The Preds have an advantage in every single category. like the Ducks GM said the Wings will be lucky to win a game.

let the games begin...where the Preds will absolutely DOMINATE the wings.
