Day 142 Flames vs Sharks preview
Just over 24 hours until the Flames meet the Sharks in what one suspects could be a bit of a spirited affair.
The Calgary Flames (48-24-9-0) sit near the top of the CPHL standings while the Sharks (28-44-8-6)are perrenial bottom feeders (Placostimas).
GM Witzel was contacted recently and in the midst of a changing of his Depends he had this to say, "Vat da hell do yooze expectus, we leeve on zee boddom of the oshun, yooze cants expects us to get bedder quickly. Holds on a minutes, Ima leeking"
Witzel has done some amazing changes with the Sharks but alas it will take years for this team to become a contender in the CPHL.
The Flames on the other hand, sit near the top of the CPHL and are looking forward to a long playoff run. Some may call his team old, GM Axmann prefers experience and experience in the playoffs will help his team succeed. Is this a one and only cup run for the Flames, well that remains to be seen. "No, I dont suspect that a lot of our players will be with us next year, because some have booked themselves in with GM Witzel at the nursing home next year, but while they are here, they damn well better make a good run of it." GM Axmann was quoted as saying. "We do have a lot of players that are in their prime though and we fully expect they will remain with the club next year. Players like Zednick, Oneill, Mccauley, Lilja, Timmonen and of course our goaltending duo of Kipper and Boucher.
In the meantime, Sharks and Flames go head to head. If GM Witzel can get out of the nursing home and take his walker to the game, he might experience a doozy of a game.
Flames will ice their top lineup with Kipper starting in goal. Watch for GM Axmann to shorten the bench and run with three lines to see what kind of output the Flames can generate.
Over to you, Bri Bri..

I am glad I wasn't the first one to say it!
Speaking of which, didn't Axel and KG do some kind of camping thing together a while back? HMMMMM
Camping with your buddies will never be the same again after that movie!

Mister Axmann,
There is one little flaw in all this rhetoric...the simple fact is the Flamers have sucked against the Sharks this year! The Flames have lost two of three, and the game they did win they won by just one goal after being outshot by the "lowly" Sharks. Further, the "mighty" (as in mighty old!) Flamers have managed only 7 goals in three against a team the averages 3.51 goals against a game! Just pathetic!
One other fly in the ointment is a look at the Sharks record against the top 8 teams in the league...it is over .500. Not bad for Placostimus (and notice the spelling...geez these geezers are lost without their bi-focals!).
As for the vicious, slanderous and quite obvious, misrepresentation of Sharks GM Taejeonguy (Don't you know we just pee on the street here in Korea?), the team spokesman would only offer this comment, "Axel is collecting old players because he has no one to talk to about Geddy Lee and Rush...These young players today have no idea who he is talking about and think that he is simply off his Prozac again".
The '80's are over Mr. Axmann, put away your Cabbage Patch dolls, your PeeWee Herman videos, and your Flock of Seagulls cassettes. We know you are old but collecting players of your generation (give or take a decade gramps!) is a surefire way to getting killed in the playoffs!

sure, anyone can cherry-pick a good tream and take it to the playoffs (especially after running a very respectable one into the ground first!) but where's the challenge in that?
As for the Flock of Seagull cassette...it was Quarterflash cause after I left ya had to "Find Another Fool" to talk to you!
Finally, what WAS the score of our last meeting, anyway? Oh. I remember now!

BTW, Axe...we all know that you had Boy-George posters all over your bedroom when you were in Highschool. It is too bad...first Boy-George, then Michael Jackson and now you are crazy for George Michael. I see a trend...
