Not necessarily a guarantee. If both get DQ'ed in the final, the bronze would go to the B-Final winner.
I don't think Canada's favoured in the 5000, they're ranked 4th in the world but have medalled in some World Cup events earlier this year (bronze) and won Gold at last year's Worlds.
EDIT: Looks like there's five skaters in the final as well...

Exciting race. Looked like the American false start - though they just confirmed he didn't. Also looked like the 2nd Canadian may have snuck in for the bronze, but CBC hasn't shown a replay

5 teams in the men's relay--20 skaters? It's gonna be roller derby for sure!

No, in the womens semifinal (forget distance), we finsihed third in both semis, then finished 1-2 in the B final, but there were no DQs in the A final, so no medals.

So what is that now 12-4th place finishes...Maybe they need to do like the old Canada fitness thing next Olympics and have Excellent, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Did Canada have more top-four finishes than any other country in these Olympics?

Probably. I think CBC said we finished 5th seven times as well.
I guess the goal of winning the medal count in 2010 isnt that far fetched.

That short track relay is probably the most exciting sport to watch at these games. What a blast! I really thought Canada could pull that one out, but the Koreans win yet again on the short track. They must really focus on that one and only sport for the WG, since that's all they've won medals in. They sure are good at it, though.
