I'm guessing $13M, team friendly deal.

Vegas: adds 100 point forward to the fold
Edmonton: sheds Perry and Kane and adds mid rookies

This is how you show your top player they should extend, while mcdavid was charitable for basically no good reason.

This is a bigger steal than the McDavid contract. 9 more years and he's already under paid. Marner's deal does not look bad either.

Theodore has one of the best contracts in the league.

Lots of depth wrapped up for cheap for years.

I show Vegas has 17 players signed and will have $14M cap space next year.

They only have 24M committed to a much better d core than the Oilers who are spending 33M next year on d.

If Marner and Eichel click, Vegas is set up for years now. The core of this team isn't that old now and I bet Stone signs cheap next contract.

it's going to be a very sparse UFA class next summer.
Panarin, Necas, Kempe, Tuch, Ras, then mostly middle of the lineup and depth pieces

Yep, this is why the whole "Oilers are guranteed a cup now thanks to McDavid" argument is so invalid. Teams like the Avs and Vegas also have a rising cap and well paid top players...but they have better teams surrounding them IMO

With all these signings that Kaprizov deal looks dumber and dumber by the day.

By the looks of it, the Oilers are not making it out of the Western Conference in the playoff this year. There is no way they are beating the Knights in 7 games.

Still flabbergasted that Kaprizov was holding out for more money, and then he got it. Thought for sure the hold up with his re-signing was Kaprizov wanting to play on a more competitive team.

Eichel could have got the Kaprizov as a UFA...this is like a 28M discount, the term is huge here

Ya, once Andersson is off of the board there is really nothing out there for D.

IMO for the next 2 years, Makar has the best contract in the league by a wide margin. He is as good as anyone at $9M

Going forward I expect free agency will be mostly tier 2 players and below as teams are locking up their best players over their prime years. Building through the draft is more important now than ever before.
