Who is the backup? They were both hot-awful last night.

Cooley?

Agreed, need him for depth, almost certain he would come back up this year and maybe even stick upon that return (due to trade/injury, etc).

I think these guys get through. And I'm not losing sleep if any of them don't.

A little surprised at Kerins, but not really. He had trouble keeping up when playing against more NHL veteran rosters in the pre-season. His footspeed and conditioning will always hold him back from an NHL job until it improves. His talent is at least NHL quality for sure. I hope he comes back soon.

Solo going down is a pure numbers game, but he is starting to get to the age where you wonder if he's purely a quad-A injury call up guy. He hasn't significantly improved over the last couple of years, so this may be the best you get from him. Maybe he comes back up once Rasmus is traded.

I thought Prosvetov showed very, very poorly last night, even before the team starting giving up ridiculous chances. Dominating guys earlier in preseason that aren't NHL quality players doesn't impress me. I'm not saying Cooley absolutely deserves the job, but he did show something in the AHL last year at least. I think Prosvetov needs time to get used to NA style hockey again before he is given a shot.

Disappointing.

Miromanov huh? Kirkland I get. Don't agree with it but I get it. Miro is garbage.

Thought at least one of Solovyov or Kuznetzov would make the team this year... I thought Solo was good against Seattle

I hope Kerins clears

Disappointed that Miromanov and Kirkland are still here

I guess Cooley and Wolf are better friends or something

I think it's a good thing that Prosvetov is being sent to the Wranglers. He wasn't going to play much behind Wolf so hopefully he can get a lot of action in the AHL and get his game together. Cooley is what he is and if he fails it may pen the door for Prosvetov if he plays well for the Wranglers.

Kerins is a surprise for me.

Prosvetov I understand, he's new to the system and will need to play catch up a bit on the farm.

Solo in surprised too. But honestly, the guys didn't take a job from anyone and Parekh is going to be on the team no matter what.

VGK have waived Cole Scwhindt

Those waivers really make me question how much of camp is competing for jobs.

I thought that Kerins was better than a lot of the other bottom 6 forwards as a whole. At the same time I thought that Solovyov, and Kuznetsov showed at least as well as Bean and Miromanov.

I have zero trust in Cooley after this camp. I hope the Flames can find someone else to take the backup job, if they're serious about making the playoffs, otherwise I don't mind tanking either.

On the plus side Gridin is still here, and the waivers probably mean that Huberdaeu and Pospisil are okay.

At first I thought Solovyov being sent down over Miromanov might have been to save a couple of bucks, but I see his contract is one way this year.
