Icon41 Sharks trade Sturm and a 2027 7th to Panthers for a 2026 4th
Nico Sturm and a 2027 7th to Florida for a 2026 4th.

Sturm had 7 goals and 6 assists this season as a Shark.

A sixth and a seventh are essentially a wash. Sturm is basically being given away.

Yeah, definition of a replacement level player. There are players like this all over the AHL except Sturm is getting $2M and not league minimum.

Good trade for SJ. Save money and upgrade in the draft. Sturm isn’t getting 10 goals in Florida.

Sturm is excellent in faceoffs and has been the faceoff leader in the NHL the past 2 years. Scored 14 2 years ago on the Sharks. He's a UFA anyways so this is for the playoffs this year.

Didn’t know that about faceoffs so that’s probably why they got him. You probably see the Sharks more than we do down here.

But he’s not going to have ice time for 14 goals there.

Seems like a good depth trade. Injury insurance at least, but maybe more.

It needs to happen because the Panthers' prospect pool and minor league team are thin at best.
