News Roundup
'Good Teammate And A Good Person'
Even the most hardened pros can find the adjustment to be a complete shock to the senses.
He isn’t exactly ‘used to it’ by now, but after stops in four other markets and a PTO to begin his Flames tenure, Tyson Barrie is now officially settled into his new environs.
“Switching teams can be tough,” the 33-year-old admits. “Honestly, though, the first time you do it is probably the hardest and I'm into my fifth team now, so I’ve learned how to deal with it and put my best foot forward.
Flames shake up lines and Zary has been moved to centre
Though he’s played primarily on the wing since being with the Flames, Zary has plenty of experience down the middle of the ice. In an attempt to get him out of the offensive funk he’s in, head coach Ryan Huska appears to be giving him an opportunity to play down the middle
The Jacob Markstrom trade is looking like a win-win for both sides so far
To be clear, I like this trade more from the Flames perspective so far. However, the Devils side of things is simple. Goaltending was a major issue for them last season. Markstrom hasn’t even been particularly great for them through 13 games. He ranks 36th out of 52 goalies that have played at least five games in terms of GSAx (Goals Saved Above Expected), per MoneyPuck.com, with a -1.0 GSAx. He has a .908 SV% and a 2.54 GAA, which is pretty good. In comparison to the Devils goalie tandem of Vitek Vanecek, Nico Daws, and Akira Schmid, who all didn’t have a save percentage above 0.900, Markstrom is miles better.
Next men up: 3 Wranglers who should be considered for Flames call-ups
Here are three players that we think the Calgary Flames should consider calling up to the NHL, should the need arise for their services.
Flames GM Reveals Trade Plans: 'Willing to Move Picks'
Calgary Flames general manager Craig Conroy is focused on bolstering the team’s future by targeting younger players in the trade market, even if it means moving valuable draft picks.

Not sure why there's a dig at Skinner in the GDT but Im here for it and man it's hilarious. The response to the tweet...

Flames win tonight 4-2 in a 3-point night from Zary. Go Flames.

I hate to admit I’ve bought into the hype, but I’ll be toggling between the Flames game and the Paul/Tyson circus tonight if they overlap. It would be infectious if even 1 forward line could start producing more reliably so for that reason I hope Zary’s move to centre gets him some puck luck. Go Flames!

Based on all those stat breakdowns, it appears Nashville's strategy is to take a large volume of weak shots from long distance.
No wonder they're terrible.

He explains it in the replies.
According to the replies, he refused to interview with teams he thought were below him leading up to the draft and used to make fun of players if he thought their parents were poor or had jobs he thought were beneath him.
Not sure that qualifies as “horrible” but definitely speaks to attitude issues if true. Though I would think at this point he’s been given a hard reality check.
EDIT: mile has it above

What are the odds of Forsberg scoring against us? Can't be under 100%.

Not just her, but I swear Abbott and Hrudey have been saying it multiple times a game as well.
