The game group skates at 11AM MT at the Saddledome. Should get roster and lines around then.

That seems like a lot of AHLers to me, but hopefully the likes of Coronato, Pelletier, Stromgren, Morton, Brzustewicz, and Parekh make the most of it. It will be a tough game for the boys.

I’m excited to see who stands out on defence tonight! Good mix of potential, development, and a bit of NHL experience.

Rooney the only one you could really call a vet. I thought there were rules around this though that mandated more proper NHLers in pre-season lineups?

Hunt and Bean are both at or around 200 NHL games.
most recent first rounders (Parekh) count I believe, then some combo of Wolf, Coronato, Pelletier, Pachal and about 3-5 other previous cup of coffee guys must count

In Seattle for the pre season opener with likely no guys who’ve ever played with Johnny?
Meh I wouldn’t necessarily expect it. Season opener and flames home opener I would expect tributes.

If you're refering to the veteran rule of having 8 veterans:
F or D with 30 GP last season(4): Bean(72), Pachal(50), Coronato(34), Rooney(33)
Goalies with more than 50GP, or 30GP last season(0): N/A
2024 1st round picks(2): Parekh, Gridin
Players with more than 100 NHL games(4): Rooney(260), Hunt(230), Bean(197), Frk(124)[thanks sureLoss]
That's 8 vets by my count. Maybe I'm missing someone(EDIT: Frk!).

Remember that the "veteran" rule that requires teams to dress a lineup that contains at least a few recognizable names for preseason games also includes first round draft picks from the most-recent draft. In the Flames case, that means Parekh and Gridin qualify.
This is the requirement...
Quote:
15.4 Exhibition Games.
(c) A Club shall be permitted to dress a minimum of eight (8) veterans for any Exhibition Game. For purposes of this Section 15.4(c), a veteran shall constitute either:
(1) a forward or defenseman who played in thirty (30) NHL Games during the previous season,
(2) a goaltender who either dressed in fifty (50) or more NHL Games or played in thirty (30) or more NHL Games in the previous season,
(3) a first round draft choice from the most recent year's Entry Draft, or
(4) any Player who has played one-hundred (100) or more career NHL Games.
|
Under those rules, here are the 8 players in the lineup tonight who meet the requirement... - Parekh (1st rounder)
- Gridin (1st rounder)
- Bean (100+ career games)
- Frk (100+ career games)
- Hunt (100+ career games)
- Rooney (100+ career games)
- Coronato (30+ last season)
- Pachal (30+ last season)

From what I saw on social media, all three games last night had some sort of tribute to Johnny and Matty before the game, and none of the teams playing had any links to them.
I'd be very surprised if the Kraken don't do something.
