Default cooking questions!

preparing for our annual Hockey Day in Canada festivities, and a friend found me some distinctly Canadian recipes. I was making my grocery list (last minute, yes!) and I cam across 2 things that i have no idea about.

what is "Good Luck"? a recipe I have calls for 2 tablespoons of it. huh? I can't find anythint online, mostly because it's such a common phrase. I tried adding cooking terms, but I get nothing about what this might be.....

also, "Carnation milk". does anyone know what that might mean? Condensed milk, evaporated milk, regular millk, powdered milk? wtf?!

you crazy canadians.

Thanks for any answers!!!! :)

(PS i finally got a Flames jersey for Xmas this year, so I can root for the boys in earnest! White. Wanted the red, but I ain't complaining!)

Carnation milk is canned evaporated milk. Nestle makes it so you should be able to buy it down there.

"Good Luck" is probably an ingredient like "add a dash of love" or "a sprinkle of cheerfulness" that come with a lot of recipes written by old women.

What are you making?

That's what I knid of thought about the "Good Luck" when I read it in the ingredients list. but in the recipe it says "Heat good Luck in skillet...." and I thought not even a little old granny would take it THAT far. :P I'm guessing it's an oil of some sort. *Shrug*

and it's kind of lame, but it's supposed to be "Newfoundland Tuna Casserole". I mean, you're supposed to make it w/real Newfie tuna, but I'm going to use chicken of the sea or whatever, ssshhh! ;)

Yes, if you replace the cheese with cheese curds.

Unless you're feeding this meal to goats or sheep, clover should not be substituted for 'Good Luck' "Good Luck' is nothing. It's like the Smile's- Free on the menu board at McDonalds.
