do exactly what i just did.

it sucks, as far as forum etiquette goes. if you have a topic, put a title to it. if you have something that further clarifies your topic, put it in the topic description.

example
Bad:
TT: EDM aquires Conroy!
TD: (Empty)

Good:
TT: I Just Aquired Conroy for EDM!
TD: I like my new copy of ESPN 2k5!

example
Bad:
TT: I really wish people wouldn't...
TD: (Empty)

Good:
TT: Please use topic titles appropriately
TD: My rant on misleading people in your topic titles.


okay. that's my rant. i used to be on a forum where they'd just nuke the thread if the title was misleading or if it falsely drew people in for a read. that's way too harsh, but man, don't waste my time. i honestly couldn't care if EDM aquired the entire CDN world cup roster if it's in your video game. sheesh.

I'm not sure why some posters leave the title ambiguous. Build suspense? More thread hits? Who knows. But it is annoying.

Yours wasn't nearly as bad as it coulda been, Chip...at least I could tell from the title that it was going to be a rant about something that p*sses you off. The worst thread title in history has to be,

"Does anybody know..."

followed by a stupid question like "...why I can't see anything?" Hint: the answer has something to do with your head being in a dark bodily cavity.

That was exactly my reaction too, so I went in here just to post how it'd be nice if the title was a little more descriptive.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that gets driven nuts by this.

Yep, this is a pet peeve of mine too.

It especially bugs me when it causes "Fatas" on the board because someone scans the board for a topic but cannot find it because it was too non-descriptive. It happens all the time.
