Offense:
Offensively the Oil are explosive from four lines with a defense that is very active in team scoring. Segie the machine Samsonov is off to a career year since being moved to a line with young Zherdev. The machine currently sits atop the CPHL point race clipping at 1.72 points per game. Three players have more than twenty goals and eight have registered ten or more. Jeff Carter has been very productive since moving up from the ECHL, giving our third line a little identity. Big Vinny and Hossa now teamed with Morozov have played very well in the past ten fifteen games. Stephen Wiess has been a very good penalty killer for us, a big contributor to the number one penalty kill percentage in the league. Offensively things are good in Mullet town.
Defense:
This would be considered the weakest link if you will. Currently the defense is playing with out our best player, Roman Hamrlik is not only our top dman, but he is our captain as well. Romans leadership is missed by this young team. Brian Leetch and Tom Poti are playing huge minutes this year averaging 25 30 per night. Karel Rachunek has been nothing less than awesome this season producing 37 points, a +8 rating and a team leading 104 hits. We sure are glad to have him around. Bouwmeester has played very well this season usually as our fifth dman, although due to Hamrliks injury Jay has seen his ice time double. Missing from this core is a good defensive specialist. Over-all they seem to get the job done.
Goalie:
The man
.. Martin Brodeur. (Need not say more)
In a nutshell the Oil are starting hit their stride. Look out Howe Conference here we come
