Saros has a high ankle sprain, could be out 4-6 weeks

Hopefully Rittich can get Nashville enough points to tie or surpass Dallas (1 point lead currently).

Seems Pred's fans have little faith in Rittich, they'd rather see Connor Ingram start.

Only 4-6 weeks is very optimistic for a true high ankle sprain. Something doesnt add up here.

I mean, the Preds are still a pretty good team with any goalie in net, but they aren't good enough to win a playoff series unless they have Saros available. High ankle sprain means he's likely done for the year because white tissue takes a long time to heal due to low blood supply. It's also indicative of instability between the fibula and tibia, meaning the entire ankle won't support his weight and he'll have no ability to push off to get across the net.
That's pretty much the end of Saros this year, and probably the Preds as well. Sucks to get an injury like that a few days before the playoffs begin.

I thought they didn't have to disclose this level of detail? Or that playoffs only?
This seems like wayyyy too much information for this time of year, shocked they'd let that get out there.

Can't they do an ankle transplant?

I did a medial sprain of my ankle last August playing soccer and wasn't able to properly do a push off to slide in butterfly until about March. I lost so much joint flexibility. It's a really bummer to get anything beyond a basic lateral sprain of the ankle if you're a goalie. Really sucks for Saros.

Started 67 games this year.
Woof.
That's a clusterFfffffff of epic proportions.
Why the hell don't you have a competent backup?
And it's Poile as GM which I'm kinda shocked by

So… we want Dallas to lose their last game and Nashville to win one of their two remaining games… Go Nashville? (For now, for now only…)

Most games played of any goalie this year.
Coincidence? I think not.

Man, that sucks. It’s great for either us or Colorado but that blows for Preds fans. It doesn’t even make sense how it happened, the play was nowhere near him when he went off the ice.

If they didn't play him that much they probably would have missed the playoffs

It’s likely because he’s done for the year, and therefore irrelevant who knows what. It’s also not like a goalie is at the same mercy as other players for disclosing injuries. It probably is being disclosed in respect to fans and to avoid the endless speculation and distraction surrounding the team if they only say Saros is out for a ‘LBI’.

But he wears goalie pads. Those things will practically act like a splint and keep everything in place and supported.

Does anyone know when/how it happened? I recall the Flames broadcast couldn't find any specific moment or contact that led to him leaving last game.

I think it happened when Kylington got called for a penalty. I turned it off when the call was made so I'm not completely sure but when I saw a video of him leaving Kylington was in the box.

Selfishly I want Dallas to keep that WC1 spot so I can go to games three and four without taking any time off work...
