Who's Pulling Back Up Duty?
I'm happy with Markstrom as our #1, but all goalies need decent support in today's NHL. Are the Flames going to roll the dice on one of their younger prospects filling the role? Or do they go hunting for a mid-priced proven back-up. What do you expect? What do you want?
Personally I wouldn't mind bringing back Rittich for a 2-ish year deal maybe in the 2-3 mil range? I'm also interested in seeing what Wolf and/or Zagidulin could do with a shot in the spot.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Kevin Woodley this morning on 960 suggested the best man for the job would be Laurent Brossoit

Good year for finding a decent back up
Probably a Brossoit, Reimer etc type who will sign for under 2m

I hope they get Wolf in there, get him in the NHL right away, as a backup to a star. The more he is here the better in my opinion. I'm tired of our young goalies not given a chance to try and learn. Instead they don't pan out at the NHL because they never get a chance. He is a winner, let him learn in the NHL, not the minors.

Wolf is way too young, Zagidulin can fight for a spot in camp. I'm guessing they sign a back up to a 1/2yr deal.

I'm surprised Seattle did not select more goalies just for the purpose of trading for picks or prospects. You'd think someone like Kahkonen would have value on the trade market
I like Bernier, if Carolina does not sign him. Played for Sutter's first cup team in LA

Is Parsons not good enough to get a look or two?

With goaltending being the Flames greatest depth, I’d love to see one of the young guys get a crack at the spot.

Has Parsons even been able to play at the AHL level? He looked so promising, but he seems destined for the garbage bin.

He played 1 game last season and allowed 5 goals on 25 shots. He needs to get consistent playing time in the AHL before he's given any consideration for the NHL.

I heard that Woodley interview this morning and liked the Brossoit suggestion. His rationale was: - Brossoit has shown that he does well when not facing a lot of shots, which is what we can expect (since Darryl took over, team is near the top of the league in fewest shots allowed)
- Markstrom is going to get the majority of the workload and Brossoit is used to that after backing up Hellybuck

I think James Reimer would be a great backup.

I don't think Wolf is "way too young."
He could be ready for backup duty within a year or two. As I've pointed out before, nearly every elite goalie in the league played in the NHL by the age of 22.
I'm on board within signing Broissoit for two years.
The Flames need a good backup to prevent them from overplaying Markstrom into an injury.
Apparently the Flames draft a good backup goalie in the 6th round once every 10 years. Curtis McElhinney (6th round 2002) and Laurent Broissoit (6th round 2011).
Maybe they're due this year.
