According to Dom Luczyszyn's model, yes. Basically, it would be McDavid if you were only focused on offense, but McDavid's defense is so bad that Matthews's basic defensive competence makes up the difference. It's sort of like Matthews gets 10 points for offence and 2 for defence, while McDavid gets 20 points for offence and -10 for defence.
If you don't care about analytical models then take your pick.
