Anyone else see the feature on Bill Romanowski tonight (Sunday) on 60 Minutes? It was quite interesting.

When the Flames signed Marchment I kind of figured they had just picked up the Bill Romanowski of the NHL. I hope not, because this guy is certifiable.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/10/13/...ain941102.shtml

“I felt I could take myself to a place where other guys weren’t willing to go because come Sunday after a game, I already started hating the next opponent. I started hating the guy I was going to go against,” says Romanowski. “I hated the coaches. I hated their fans. I hated their family. You name it. And by the time I got onto that field come Sunday, watch out because there was rage.”

He never missed a game in 16 seasons. I don't follow the NFL or baseball too much, but for a guy to be a linebacker in the NFL for 16 years and not miss a game, that's on par with Cal Ripken.

He's paying for it though. The concussions that he hid have taken a real toll. I don't think the results are in on the consequences of all the crap he's ingested over the years to make himself such a lunatic.

Also, I think he borrowed Gary Busey's dentures for the interview.

Yeah, I'm not sure the extent scientific testing on injecting live cells from Scottish Black Sheep, bu I am sure its not in the New England Journal of Medicine.

May explain some of his wacked out moments, like the finger breaking and breaking a rookie teammates orbital bone a few years ago. The THG/"Roid Rage" was probably a come down from all those other potions he was brewing up.

Keep in mind, he really didn't start doing anything shady until he was on the downside of his career in Oakland....chemically speaking of course.

He was insanely into supplements and other experimental treatments, but none of them were under scrutiny by the NFL>....which is far and away the toughest league on substances.

I enjoyed watching Romo play, especially while he was in Denver, but he did cross that line of playing vs hurting too often. Still, guys like Dick Butkus and Jack Tatum are in the HOF for playing that way. They're referred to as throwbacks while Romo will be forever labelled dirty.

He was a great player, but yeah.....a little insane.

At least he's honest, I believe strongly we should see him in the HOF. If they don't let him in due to the steroids then they may as well cross out half the names in there.

Why do you say that?

It was when he started slipping physically that he felt the need to do the illegal stuff. THat's what he said. What reason would he have to lie about it now?

You could be right, but I'll take the guy at his word.

I'm not trying to be a Romo apologist either, I said he played over the line too much. But he was, without a doubt, an extremely talented linebacker and one who probably didn't need to use steroids through the prime of his career.

Thats awesome. Maybe its just me, but I love stuff like that. Maybe because thats the way I played football. To me its all about those two hours where you'll do anything to win.
