And there we go. AV must have said yes, tentatively.

This is a nothing comment, but can you “fire” an interim head coach? Wouldn’t it just be letting them go?

Yeah I wasn't entirely sure how to phrase it so I just decided I'd make it consistent with sureLoss's threads. I initially phrased it differently and I think I found the right word now.

I am gonna completely guess here and say they will hire Randy Carlyle or Ron Wilson.

Yup.

Not fired so much as just not getting extended.

Im guessing this means Vigneault will be the guy there moving forward?

Maybe the end for Willie in the NHL. The Kings are a mess but I feel he actually made things worse by coming in and immediately putting Kovalchuk in the doghouse for the rest of the season.

He can join his prodigy, Gully, in Edmonton. Mash him in with the other coaches to create some sort of #####y Voltron.

It’s not going to be AV. Probably just as bad though.

Not really, he was cheap, temporary, and the Kings had five coaches still on payroll. It’s not like there was another Sutter out there to work a miracle anyway.

Dennis Bernstein @DennisTFP
Update on Kings coaching search:

Significant contract negotiations ongoing with Todd McLellan but other teams in mix making strong plays for former SJ/EDM bench boss.

While "nothing imminent" may be fair to say at the moment, McLellan is clearly LA's 1st choice.

Interesting.

Really thought McClellan would take a year away from it all after the tire fire up North but i guess you strike while the iron is hot.

Strike while the sympathy is hottest. Hitchcock wasn't able to do anything with the Oilers, so it's easy to say 'see? Not my fault'.

If Todd takes a year off and whoever coaches Edmonton next actually does turn it around (lol, they won't) it makes him look like the problem.
